Steve Sarkisian contract to include use of private plane, gameday tickets

The Texas Board of Regents will hold its already-scheduled meeting from Feb. 21-22. Some additional perks of the contract extension that the board will be asked to approve include:

  • A one-time payment of $300,000 that is to be paid before April 1, 2024.
  • Twenty hours of personal use on a private aircraft provided annually by the university.
  • Up to 12 tickets and one suite for all home football games, up to eight tickets for all away football games, up to eight tickets and a suite for all postseason games and up to six tickets for all home games for UT's other sports.
  • Annual performance incentives that max out at $1.85 million. The highlights of those incentives are the $300,000 that Texas will pay Sarkisian if he leads UT to a conference championship, the $200,000 that he'll earn if he wins one of the major national coach of the year awards and the $1.25 million bonus that he'll receive if UT wins a national championship.

Included in Steve Sarkisian's new contract at Texas:

• Two cars

• Private jet

• Game tickets

• Country club membership

• 2024: $10.3 million

• 2025: $10.4 million

• 2026: $10.5 million

• 2027: $10.6 million

• 2028: $10.7 million

• 2029: $10.8 million

• 2030: $10.9 million

Just a guess by me, he won’t be employed at UTx for the 2030 season.

I've said it before and I'll stand by it until it's proven wrong. Tx should be an absolute powerhouse every year with Tx talent alone. It is SO hard to win there because they probably have more "cooks" than any other school and then some. That place will always be a shyte show

Austin is a damn nice town.  Those limestone hills are pretty, its arid, but it gets enough rain on the border between the piney woods of east Tx and the desert in west Tx.  Good nightlife, good Bar B Q.  In Mack Brown's later days there, the word was that it was TOO nice for the players.  Not enough discipline.  The team got soft and it looked like they lacked motivation after they won the natty with VY.

I'm sure all of that is true but I'm talking about the "behind the scenes" stuff. I don't remember if Strong replaced Brown there but was told by a decent source that Charlie hadn't been in his office for an hour and had a line of 15 + "boosters" waiting to tell him how he should coach the team. I can't confirm it but I 100% believe it to be true. Seems just like something a bunch of rich Texans would do.
