Gut feeling says it will be Coleman getting the start.

Gonna be Wholestaff rest of way though.

Guy that are most likely (or should be) completely UNavailable:
Jump
Holman
Little
Ulloa
Herring?

so here is my take, or rather questions on the call.

take out the judgement on whether or not Neal stepped on or in front of the plate.

what TV didn't show is when did the call begin to get discussed?
the Home Plate umpire did not make the call in real time, and actually signaled the runner was out.

what happened next?

did USCe coach ask about the call? because it's not reviewable.
did one of the other umps say "hey, quick question....."? because that I THINK is allowable.
did the home plate ump ask on of the others for clarification?

this team (as well as last year's) obviously loves playing for that man.
and even though we struggled like hell early, I honestly can't ever thing of a single moment, starting with his introductory presser, where when I hear him talk baseball, and LSU, and this team, that I don't sit back and think to myself "holy shyte we have a good one in this guy"

If the call is not reviewable his signal should have been the end of the story.

Love to be on the winning side of a game that ends that way

LSU Coach Ejected, Tigers Protest After Catcher's Balk in Extra Innings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J0ixt5rHc8

officially, we did not protest as per SEC official.

we requested a protest, but you can not protest a judgement call, only a rules implementation/application.
the rule was applied correctly, making the question only whether the call was the correct one or not (which is not protestable)

which is not protestable

It needs to be! Any call that can put a run on the board should be able to be challenged.

Applied correctly or not he did not commit the foul

you want a borderline ball four with the bases loaded to be protestable too?
or a bang bang play at the plate that could have gone either way?

I agree it was an absolute didley-poo call.
but you can't now, nor could you ever, protest and ump's judgement call.

The problem I have is that the plate umpire who was right on top of it first reaction was “runner out”. He should have been out. But what’s a baseball game without some controversy?

there is one, and only ONE scenario I can come up with to explain that.

Umpire 1 makes a call based on what he sees.
after the call, Umpire 2 comes over and asks him what he saw and Umpire 1 tells him.
Umpire 2 (or 3 or 4) then says "wait a minute, then by rule ......"

in this scenario, the call was and what happened was not reviewed, but the implementation of the rule was discussed and "corrected"

completely different types of plays, but in my years of playing and coaching, I have seen this scenario play out multiple times.
even seen where myself as a coach brought up a rule and had a call changed.  Not based on umps changing what they think happened, but based on what the rule says about what happened.

No, just things like what happened yesterday

i agree this specific play should be reviewable since there is a very clear set of rules on the play.

it’s not any more of a “judgement” than a safe/out play at any base.
