LSUDad
Saturday story: Before the LSU game yesterday, I wanted to see Skenes pitch. I got to WalkOns, just south of campus, before noon. Got the manager to put the Yankees vs the Pirates on a few TV's. For LSU Gameday, they remove all the seats at the bar, also most of the tables and chairs, in the bar area. I looked around, saw a couple sitting at a hightop table. I walked over, asked if they were meeting anyone. They offered me a seat. Started small talk, asked where they were from, they said, Atlanta, Ga. I said no one is from there, what small town are yall from. White,Ga. was their reply, North of the city. I said, I have three sisters in Woodstock, a one sells a good bunch of real estate. He asked me her name, after I told him, he said I know your sister well. He's in construction, he does outdoor fire pits and kitchens. He just finished some work for my niece. Then he tells me that their son is the QB that transferred from Vandy. We spent a few hours talking, eating. and enjoying sports. I know, cool story. Nice folks.
houtiger
Just putting this somewhere. I saw a show on SECN called "The Path" about LSU season so far, pretty good. They had a piece on Josh Williams, who apparently was a great high school guard on the basketball team. He said the reason he had to walk on is that he focused on basketball to get a scholarship for his first 3 years of high school. He didn't go to any summer football camps, so he was off the radar. His sr. season, he decided he was too short to play basketball in college and focused on football, but the scholarships had been handed out. There was a piece on Eddie Kennison, graduated around 1994, played pro for 8 years. He went into the coffee business and has done well. He stressed to his two sons about getting a degree and they said "but Dad, you don't have a degree". He decided to fix that. LSU has a program called "Project Graduation" for its former athletes who left without a degree. Eddie entered the program and completed his degree in business. That guy has commitment and work ethic, and sounds like a great Dad to his sons. They said to date, 104 former LSU athletes have come back and completed their degrees. Didn't Shack complete his? So why pay for the app?

A good friend lives in the subdivision. I need to stop by. As for the big guy, he promised his mother he would eventually return to his studies and complete his bachelor's degree. He fulfilled that promise in 2000, earning his B.A. degree in general studies from LSU, with a minor in political science. He might need that degree one day, as his net worth is around $500M.
