  1. With early signing period approaching, SEC currently has top 4 2019 recruiting classes ADAM SPENCER | 4 HOURS AGO With this year’s early signing period just around the corner, there are a number of incredible athletes committed to SEC schools. While not all of them will sign this month, many of them will, and we’ll start to be able to project how the freshman classes will look across the conference. Currently, the SEC is dominating the 2019 rankings, with the 247Sports composite giving the conference the top four spots in the country: Alabama — 2 5-stars, 21 4-stars Texas A&M — 2 5-stars, 10 4-stars Georgia — 3 5-stars, 13 4-stars LSU — 3 5-stars, 9 4-stars Clemson has the highest-rated non-SEC class, checking in at No. 5. Auburn (No. 12), Tennessee (No. 15), Arkansas (No. 16), Ole Piss (No. 18), Mississippi State (No. 19) and Florida (No. 20) also have top-20 classes. We’ll see how many players finalize their choices during the three-day signing period, but last year, many of the nation’s best recruits signed early.
  2. A little help? Countdown to Early Signing Period: 5 recruits who can help LSU immediately in 2019 LES EAST | 3 HOURS AGO Help is on the way for LSU. The Tigers have had a fine 9-3 season heading into their Fiesta Bowl game against undefeated UCF on New Year’s Day. But they were close to being even better. They lost by eight points to Florida, and Texas A&M needed a touchdown on the final play of regulation as well as seven overtimes to deny them a 10-win regular season. A few really good reinforcements in just the right places could put LSU in position to have a special season in 2019. LSU’s recruiting class is ranked No. 4 in the country. Assuming they follow through on their commitments during the Early Signing Period Dec. 19-21, here are five recruits who can help immediately in 2019: 1. Trey Palmer, WR, Kentwood (La.) The Tigers thought wide receiver was going to be a strength in 2018. It wasn’t. They have a lot of receivers coming back in 2019, but other than Justin Jefferson, nobody has lived up to expectations. Ja’Marr Chase and Terrace Marshall Jr., are highly touted freshmen who might well have breakout seasons as sophomores in 2019. But the opportunity is there for anyone who proves they’re ready to have an impact. Palmer’s high-school coach, Jonathan Foster, praised Palmer’s football smarts before Kentwood’s victory in the Class 1A state championship game this week. Palmer is a 6-0, 179-pound 4-star recruit who played through an ankle injury in the semifinals and finals, throwing a touchdown pass from his receiver position in both games. He also was a standout strong safety for the Kangaroos. He has intelligence, toughness and versatility. He also has an opportunity at a position where LSU needs to get better. 2. Kardell Thomas, G, Southern Lab (Baton Rouge, La.) The Tigers’ offensive line dealt with complications from July on. At the start of preseason camp, starting right guard Ed Ingram Jr. was suspended indefinitely. He was later charged with sexual assault and was never reinstated. He might never play again for LSU. Injuries and other disciplinary issues kept the door revolving for much of the season. Thomas, a 5-star and No. 2 guard in the country, could be in the mix on the line, either in Ingram’s spot or somewhere else if Ingram were to return. LSU needs to get better on the line and Thomas, who is 6-3, 356, can help them to just that. 3. Donte Starks, ILB, John Ehret (Marrero, La.) The Tigers have uncertainty at inside linebacker as well. Devin White, voted the nation’s best linebacker this season, is expected to bypass his senior season and enter the NFL Draft after the Fiesta Bowl. The depth was weakened during preseason camp when Tyler Taylor was suspended after an arrest for his alleged role in a robbery in Georgia. Patrick Queen and Jacob Phillips played well at times this year, but nothing is set at inside linebacker. Starks, listed at 6-1, 225, is a 4-star recruit and the No. 6 inside linebacker in the country, so he has an opportunity to erase some of the uncertainty about the linebacking corps. He reported visited Kansas and former LSU coach Les Miles this weekend. 4. John Emery Jr., RB, Destrehan (La.) Emery is a 5-star recruit. He’s the No. 2 running back in the country. Coach Ed Orgeron made thinly veiled comments about the need for the Tigers to get him shortly after Emery decommitted from Georgia and shortly before he committed to LSU. He might well be the poster boy for this recruiting class because he’s being brought in to be the next Derrius Guice or Leonard Fournette or whoever else. It’s likely that Emery, listed at 5-11, 206, will start right away and be a key to whether the Tigers can elevate their offensive production significantly. 5. Derek Stingley, CB/RS, Dunham (Baton Rouge, La.) Stingley is the No. 3 overall recruit nationally. He’s the top-rated cornerback in the country. And he returns kicks. Time will tell whether he becomes the next Patrick Peterson, but he’s the guy with the best chance to have the biggest impact right away. Greedy Williams is going to the NFL, not even sticking around for the Fiesta Bowl. DBU needs some DBs, the type that can help the Tigers continue to justify that nickname. Stingley, a 5-star listed at 6-0, 188, can help them do that. He can also provide much-needed help in the punt return game.
  3. This one is a little old, still has Emery to UGA. But, Dec. 19th, we should have a better feel for this class. O and the staff want all to sign during this period. https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/The-nations-top-30-recruiting-classes-so-far-120837677/?ftag=ACQ-07-10abg1e&vndid=5b7e12f5e4b01c4b477f03c6
  4. Of those three, Briles is by far the better.
  5. Thanks to F’ing Alexander. You can’t say you need money for your university if you pay good money for coaches.
  6. Kings would have too many coeds transfer to LSU.
  7. Who would you like now? Fedora, Kingsbury or Kendal Briles, or someone else?

    Gumbo Time

C’est tout, Chicken, Tasso, Andouille and Green Onion Sausage Gumbo. Got to make a stop at Bergerons in Port Allen. Couldn’t remember if they closed at 2 or 3. Got there at 2:30, but they let me in and I got to do a little shopping. Also picked up Stuffed Taters and Dirty Rice Stuffed Bell Peppers.
  9. BREAKING: 2020 OT Courtland Ford commits to LSU By Mike Scarborough November 7, 2018 52 0 Tweet Share The future for LSU's offensive line continues to look brighter and brighter as one of the best in Texas for the class of 2020 has committed to the Tigers. Courtland Ford of Cedar Hill was on campus for the LSU-Alabama game Saturday and that visit helped seal the deal for the high four-star tackle. "The atmosphere is great, fans everything felt like home, i stepped into Death Vally Saturday night and i already had my mind made up," Ford told TigerBait.com. "It was just that great. The coaching staff and players there are a family and I know that they are the perfect fit for me." Ford committed to LSU over scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, TCU and many others. The 6-foot-6, 305-pound prospect gives LSU six commitments for the class of 2020.
  10. Nick tried to hire, take with him, to Miami, Tommy Moffitt. The GumpTurds S&C Coach Scott Cochran trained under Moffitt. When nick couldn’t get Moffitt, he hired a guy I know, Bert Hill. Bert was on the Detroit Lions staff when Eric Andolsek was playing there. There is a good reason Moffitt stays here in BTR, he’s had a number of offers, both college and Pros. Look on the GumpTurds sideline, anyone see Butch Jones, Tenn is paying him to coach for GumpTurds.
  11. Last year the center for GumpTurds Bradley Bozeman was a 5th year Sr, this year, the center is a 5th year Sr. Bozeman is the backup Center for the Baltimore Ravens.
  12. Why does GumpTurds have an open date when they play us? It’s not like we are going to beat them. The NCG 21-0, the same season we beat them 9-6, what happened?
  13. Yep, then they empty the bench against everyone but us. It’s a statement with us. They study LSU more than any team, it’s known. When you have that schedule, it makes it somewhat easier. Why do they have an open date before us? It adds up, guess it’s just me.
  14. GumpTurds has 30 players on their roster that have taken a Red-Shirt. To add, they have 7 Red-Shirt Sr's on the roster. We have a total of 9 scholarship Sr's, one is a transfer, one is your kicker, another transfer. LSU's two deep has 5 Sr's. GumpTurds has a dozen in their 2 deep. Those are the numbers, I understand frustration, but what I'm saying is numbers. As for La. players, two on offense and three on defense, that made plays last night. But every time they made a play, the announcers reminded everyone listening what state they were from. We had 6 underclassmen declare for the draft last year, how good would we be if those folks had stuck around? Guice and Donte Jackson, both were drafted in the 2nd round. Arden Key in the third. Clapp went in the 7th, then Kevin Toliver and Toby Weathersby went undrafted. How good is your Ol with Clapp and Weathersby? How good is the defense with KT2? These are the guys that need to stay. Then you start to matchup. Recruiting is one thing, re-recruiting is another.
  15. You need players, you need 4th and 5th year Sr’s. All too often players are leaving, some not even getting drafted, or drafted way too low. But then again, nick is doing things no one else is. Look on the sidelines, coaches and support staff. Anyone see Butch Jones? He’s getting paid by Tenn. Too many things you can model after what’s being done at GumpTurds. And yes he had 2 players from La on offense and three on defense that made plays, and every time one of these guys made plays, the announcers, made sure to let you know where they came from.
  16. Yep Herb, but two have been used in Plaquemine. I gave a text to the Lt. Gov. Of La. Billy Nungesser, about the problem with the Sunshine Bridge being out, within minutes, he called me back. He said that he was making calls. Talking with my cousin the other day, they have added a third ferry to the Plaquemine crossing. My thanks to the Lt Gov. please remember him on voting days.
  17. This reminds me of the Sticky Wicket in Victoria, Canada. Love that place.
  18. While tailgating Saturday before the UGA game, my relatives and I were talking, he was doing a Tournament that Monday for Wounded Warriors and Patriots. How could I say no. To get across the Mississippi River, due to the Sunshine Bridge being out, the Plaquemine Ferry came into play. Gun Salute The Bugler playing Taps, tells me it was a worthy cause.
  19. A few pictures from the Bert Jones Tournament... My cousin runs Borden Milk, he took care of the Milks and OJ. He got in touch with our friend Donnie, he runs Krispy Kreme, Donnie supplied us with 20 dozen. Charles Alexander and Rohan. Someone made the mistake of telling Ro I go to Mexico every year. Ro said, "Bring me back some boots, size 13.
  20. Jaqueline Roy, a defensive tackle at University High in Baton Rouge, has committed to LSU, according to a 247 Sports report. The 6-foot-4, 306 pound Roy committed go the Tigers via Twitter. He rated fourth in Louisiana’s 2020 class and is ranked No. 15 nationally among defensive tackles by 247 sports. His commitment pushes LSU's recruiting class for 2020 up to No. 6 nationally, also according to 247 Sports picked LSU over schools such as Florida, Florida State and Georgia. Roy is part of a U-High team is ranked seventh nationally by MaxPreps and unbeaten in three games.
  21. But to add, we should sign around 25 in this upcoming class. Remember this, LSU along with many other colleges, are looking for transfer students, this has opened up a entire recruiting page. Look at the number of transfers on this years team.
  22. We return all but one player, Brumfield. Only three will be Sr’s. next year, Tradore, Magee and Damien Lewis. We are in good shape next year, with the addition of a few more. We only have around 9 Sr’s in this class. The loss of 2-3 to an early draft.
  23. The Tigers also hold commitments from three other four-star prospects on offense in wide receivers Darin Turner and Kris Abrams-Draine and quarterback TJ Finley. Like Boutte, Abrams-Draine is viewed as an athlete who could play on either side of the ball in college. LSU’s other commitment comes from the defensive side with a pledge from four-star defensive lineman Jaquelin Roy. The commitment from Boutte moves LSU’s 2020 recruiting class up to 116.07 points on the 247Sports Team Rankings. That moves the Tigers from the No. 6 class in the country up to the No. 4 recruiting class, moving ahead of Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
