LSU's Joe Burrow named 2019 Collegiate Quarterback of the Year

Add another award to the list for LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

On Monday, the Tigers signal-caller was recognized as the 2019 Collegiate Quarterback of the Year, as announced by the National Quarterback Club.

Other quarterbacks who have both won the Heisman Trophy and received the honor include Vinny Testaverde (1986), Ty Detmer (1990) and Carson Palmer (2002).

“We will enjoy celebrating not only Joe’s athletic accomplishments but, the young man and his family for renewing our enthusiasm and reminding us just how simple and clean this game truly is,” Don Kile, president of the National Quarterback Club said. “During a time when there is so much consternation and a general lack of grace in the world, it will be a true pleasure to celebrate this young man. Joe Burrow has left his mark on the college game.”

Burrow has shattered multiple school and conference records this year, also receiving the Maxwell Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Davey O’Brien Award.

Burrow and the Tigers will look to continue their road to the national championship as they face the Oklahoma Sooners in the Peach Bowl on Saturday.

Regardless of how the Tigers finish this season, Burrow is considered to be a lock for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by several analysts, which the Cincinnati Bengals have officially secured.
