Veteran LSU wide receiver reportedly plans to transfer

As LSU prepares to play in the Peach Bowl against Oklahoma, one of its receivers who missed the season because of a suspension, has reportedly made a decision about his future.

Dee Anderson plans to transfer, according to Tiger Details, after he didn’t play this past regular season because he was suspended for not meeting conditioning goals. He plans to enter the transfer portal and be eligible to play next fall. Anderson graduated from LSU last week.

Transfer Portal 2019: Tracking Power Five transfers

ByChris Hummer Dec 26, 3:28 PM

The transfer portal changed college football a season ago, and it’s showing no signs of slowing during the 2019-20 campaign.

Starting Oct. 15, 2018 student athletes were allowed to enter their names into a transfer portal, which allows schools to initiate contact with them. While a player entering their name in the transfer portal does not mean a player intends to transfer, the portal's presence gave athletes options they didn't have before. Athletes can pursue and talk to other schools without restriction, all the while remaining enrolled at their present school.

That change in the rules resulted in thousands of FBS players entering the portal, including high-profile movers like Justin Fields, Tate Martell and Jalen Hurts. It’s completely altered roster construction strategies for some programs, and resulted in a few programs from the Group of Five having their rosters pillaged. The portal drew both heavy criticism and praise from coaches around the country, largely depending on who you asked. .

247Sports is at the forefront of transfer portal coverage (and no, players don’t go to a different dimension). Our transfer portal tracking tool is the best in the business. This article is meant to compliment 247Sports’ transfer tool, easily tracking Power Five moment (plus Notre Dame) in one place. The article is set up in sequential order based on the date a player jumped into the portal.

The transfer portal reset for the 2019 season on Aug. 1, per a source, so that’s our jumping off point.

Donavaughn Campbell enters NCAA Transfer Portal

ByBILLY EMBODY 3 hours ago

LSU offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal as a graduate transfer, sources confirmed to Geaux247 on Thursday. AL.com's Matt Zenitz was first to report the news of the Ponchatoula, La. native opting to put a close to his career at LSU.

During LSU's 2019 National Championship season, Campbell played in the most games of his career, seeing action in seven games. Over the course of his LSU career, Campbell saw action in 15 games without any starts as he played both guard positions.

Campbell inked with LSU in the 2016 class as a four-star prospect, ranking as the No. 160 overall prospect in the country, No. 6 offensive guard nationally and No. 9 prospect in the state of Louisiana on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Campbell picked LSU while holding offers from Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Texas and others.

Offensive line coach James Cregg will have work to do in 2020, replacing four starters on the offensive line with Saahdiq CharlesLloyd Cushenberry, Damien Lewis and Adrian Magee all out to pursue the NFL. Right tackle Austin Deculus is the lone remaining starter returning while Ed Ingram saw time at left guard with Magee banged up.

The 2019 signing class, which includes Anthony BradfordThomas PerryKardell Thomas and Charles Turner have all made moves since being on campus and this spring, they'll get even more reps without Campbell in the fold.

"They're young. A lot of them have been hurt. I'd like to see more," Cregg told Geaux247 at the National Championship game. "That's what spring's for. That's what this time is for. It's been good to get them going during this time right now. I see a good group going forward, but I've got to see a lot more. In the spring, they're going to get challenged and they're going to get a ton of reps to get better and see where they need to be, but I'm excited about that group."

It's a busy time overall for the LSU staff. Head coach Ed Orgeron is on the recruiting trail working to finish strong with the 2020 class while putting together his staff, but it's energized Orgeron coming off a National Championship.

"I love it. It keeps us going. We get up at 4:30 in the morning, we go to bed at 10 o'clock at night," Orgeron said this week. "We're on the phone all day. It's exciting. It's competition. This is a big time for our program. Obviously, we had a lot of success last year. We want to build on that, but this is a new year.

"I met with the mid-year graduates on Sunday. You guys are going to love this group. They're big, they're lean, they're very athletic and they're great young men. I do believe we're going to finish strong in this recruiting class. I can't wait to get back to work with our team on the football field."
