LSUDad
LSU-Rice game time at NRG Stadium set ByBILLY EMBODY 6 hours ago Share0 Comments According to Rice University Football on Wednesday, the game time for LSU-Rice in Houston at NRG Stadium on Sept. 19 has been set for 2:30 p.m. CT. TV coverage has yet to be announced. According to the release, tickets will go on sale May 15 with a portion of the sales from the moment tickets go on sale until end of May benefitting COVID-19 release efforts in Houston. The Owls and Tigers will resume their series in Houston that began in 1915. This will be the 57th meeting between the two schools overall. The schools met continuously from 1932-52 and then again from 1955-83 and renewed the series in 2018 when Rice traveled to Baton Rouge. This will be the first time Rice has hosted a defending national champion since 2006 when the Owls hosted Texas at then-Reliant Stadium. The Tigers are coming off a perfect 15-0 season topped off by the National Championship as Ed Orgeron's program completed what many feel to be the greatest single-season in college football history. Replacing Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow and plenty of NFL Draft talent will be critical to continuing the momentum the program has built over the past two seasons. With the coronavirus pandemic keeping college football players off campuses, Orgeron and his staff are working with players to prepare as best they can. The staff is also preparing game plans for the season already. "We treat it exactly like we would on game week except we have more time. On Monday, we give it a full scouting report," Orgeron said Tuesday on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge. "Those analysts got to have a full scouting report. We go through it all. We go through it like we're game planning. We take copious notes. We make gameplans. Put it in the books Thursday. Put it to bed, move to the next opponent. So when we get back in the season we already have a preliminary game plan. "Obviously things are going to change, but the basics of it is not going to change. We have that all in. My plan is we have more time in the summer, usually we're out recruiting, now we're going to have every opponent we're going to play game planned and ready to go before we start camp." The Owls are coming off a 3-9 season, but did win the final three games of their season, defeating Middle Tennessee, North Texas and UTEP down the stretch.
