Could LSU land four first-round picks again in 2021?

With no end in sight regarding the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming college football season, one thing that seems certain is the 2021 NFL Draft will take place. After all, the league moved on with this year’s draft in April, albeit much differently with a virtual process rather than the live event we know it for, so no one expects anything different if COVID-19 is still ravaging America next spring.

For those college athletes eyeing next year’s draft, things are a lot less predictable for the 2020 football season. Will there be a season and what will it look like are two questions no one has an answer for?

Regardless of what takes place, business will carry on in the NFL as it welcomes in a new class of prospects.

LSU experienced the most successful draft in school history with a school-record 14 players selected, including four in the first round, which was also the most in the program’s history. Topping the 14 mark does not seem possible, but Bleacher Report predicted the Tigers could tie the first-round mark with four LSU players in its latest first-round mock.

As expected, Ja'Marr Chase was the first LSU player and first receiver off the board at No. 4 to the New York Jets.

The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner and a unanimous All-American led the NCAA in receiving touchdowns with 20, and his 127.1 yards per game ranked second nationally as he finished out the year with 84 catches for 1,780 yards in 14 games.

The Cleveland Browns enter training camp with four former Tigers on the roster after they drafted Grant Delpit three months back to go with Odell Beckham Jr.Jarvis Landry, and Greedy Williams.

Bleacher Report has the Browns calling Baton Rouge again with defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin at No. 15 overall. The 6-foot-2, 345-pounder recorded only 39 tackles – 3.0 for loss – last season but provided so much value in the middle of Dave Aranda’s 3-4 defense.

Five picks later, the publication sees Indianapolis jumping on JaCoby Stevensat No. 20.

The former five-star recruit finished second on the team last season with 92 tackles, tied for the team-lead with 5.0 sacks, and picked off three passes from his safety spot.

At 6-feet-1, 228 pounds, scouts love his versatility to play safety or linebacker in some schemes. They almost tempted him to leave after his junior season, but Stevens gave LSU an enormous boost in returning for his senior year.

Terrace Marshall rounded out LSU’s picks at No. 25 overall to the Green Bay Packers.

After missing three games in the middle of the regular season with a foot injury that required a minor surgery, Marshall still grabbed 46 passes for 671 yards and 13 touchdowns as Joe Burrow's No. 3 option. The former five-star prospect should eclipse those marks if he stays healthy, putting a big decision on his plate.

The four aforementioned Tigers all made CBSSports.com’s early Top 100 shortly after the latest draft with Chase at No. 4 followed by Shelvin at No. 82. Stevens checked in at No. 89 and Marshall fell in at No. 95.

The 2021 draft is scheduled for April 29 - May 1 in Cleveland, Ohio.
