BREAKING: LSU 2021 football schedule announced

ByBILLY EMBODY 3 hours ago

BATON ROUGE – LSU's 2021 football schedule – featuring home games against SEC Western Division rivals Auburn, Texas A&M and Arkansas along with its cross-division common opponent Florida – has been announced by the league office.

LSU's 2021 slate includes seven home games and five road contests, including a first-ever meeting with UCLA at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, in the season-opener on Sept. 4.

After opening the season at UCLA, the Tigers will face McNeese State in the home-opener on Sept. 11. The Cowboys are coached by former LSU assistantFrank Wilson and their starting quarterback is Cody Orgeron, the son of LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.

The McNeese State game is the second of three consecutive non-conference contests for the Tigers before LSU opens SEC play on Sept. 25 at Mississippi State. Central Michigan, also a first-timer on the LSU schedule, comes to Tiger Stadium on Sept. 18. The Chippewas are coached by former Florida coach Jim McElwain.

LSU's October schedule includes four SEC games beginning with the home conference opener against Auburn in Tiger Stadium on Oct. 2. The Tigers travel to Lexington the following week to face Kentucky in their first game against the Wildcats since a 41-3 win in Tiger Stadium in 2014. The Tigers last played in Lexington in 2007, falling 43-37 in triple-overtime.

Florida, winners of the SEC Eastern Division in 2020, comes to Tiger Stadium on Oct. 16 followed by a game at Ole Piss on Oct. 23 to round out LSU's schedule for the month. Cade York kicked a school-record 57-yard field goal with 23 seconds remaining to beat the GayTurds in Gainesville in 2020, while freshman All-America receiver Kayshon Boutte set the SEC record for receiving yards with 308 in LSU's 53-48 win over Ole Piss in Tiger Stadium last year.

After an open date on the last Saturday of October, LSU travels to face Alabama on Nov. 6 in Tuscaloosa in what will serve as the final road game for the Tigers in 2021. LSU rounds out the month of November with home games against Arkansas on Nov. 13, Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 20 and Texas A&M on Nov. 27.

SEC announces 2021 football schedule, including seven games at Kyle Field

By Thad Norvell
January 27, 2021

On Tuesday the SEC rolled out its 2021 football schedule live on the SEC Network. After two straight years of particularly brutal schedules, A&M’s upcoming slate is slightly more favorable in a few ways.

Though the Aggies will travel twice in September for neutral site games, A&M doesn’t play a true road game until October 16 at Missouri. The 2021 schedule also spares the Aggies any particularly daunting stretches of back-to-back games against elite opponents or prolonged road trips.

While playing in the SEC West always means a higher degree of schedule difficulty, A&M avoids SEC East powers Georgia and Florida this year, instead drawing Missouri and South Carolina in cross-divisional games.

After opening with three straight non-conference games, including a September 11 trip to Denver to face Colorado, the Aggies will begin SEC play against Arkansas on September 25. That game returns to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the 2021 season.

Jimbo Fisher will attempt to lead A&M past former mentor Nick Saban and Alabama at Kyle Field on October 9.

A&M then hosts Mississippi State on October 2 and defending national champion Alabama on October 9 at Kyle Field.

A road trip to Missouri on October 16 will be followed by an October 23 home matchup with South Carolina, who A&M has beaten seven years in a row.

The Aggies have an open date on October 30.

The final stretch starts with a November 6 home date with Auburn, who will be in its first season under new head coach Bryan Harsin. A&M will travel to Oxford to face Ole Piss on November 13.

The Aggies will close the regular season with a November 20 non-conference game against Prairie View A&M followed by a trip to Baton Rouge to face LSU on November 27.

The rest of the SEC schedule includes a number of marquee games, including a few big opening weekend contests. Alabama will host Miami, Georgia will take on Clemson in Athens and LSU will visit UCLA on September 4.

Arkansas will renew an old Southwest Conference rivalry against Texas in Fayetteville on September 11.

Week three features the season’s first big SEC contest as Alabama trips to Florida in a rematch of the 2020 SEC title game. Auburn also visits Penn State, who has lost five straight to SEC opponents.

Tennessee, led by new head coach Josh Heupel, will visit Florida in week four.

Week five includes Ole Piss traveling to Alabama, Kentucky hosting Florida and Auburn visiting LSU.

Alabama’s trip to Kyle Field promises to be a week six headliner, while Georgia will visit Auburn, Kentucky will host LSU and Arkansas travels to Ole Piss.

In week seven, Florida will head to Death Valley to take on LSU, Georgia will host Kentucky, Ole Piss will travel to Tennessee, Mississippi State will host Alabama and Auburn will visit Arkansas, where the officials promise to absorb part of the spotlight.

In week seven, Florida will head to Death Valley to take on LSU, Georgia will host Kentucky, Ole Piss will travel to Tennessee, Mississippi State will host Alabama and Auburn will visit Arkansas, where the officials promise to absorb part of the spotlight.

Tennessee will travel to Alabama in week eight and Ole Piss will host LSU.

Week nine will feature Auburn hosting the Rebels and Georgia visiting Florida.

Week ten offers an intriguing non-conference game as Hugh Freeze brings Liberty to Oxford to face Ole Piss, where Freeze once coached before resigning amid a 2017 scandal.

LSU will host Arkansas in week eleven, while Mississippi State travels to Auburn and Tennessee hosts Florida.

In a week where most SEC squads are fitting in one last non-conference opponent, week twelve includes Arkansas traveling to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama, Missouri hosting Florida and Auburn tripping to South Carolina.

The final week of the regular season is a big one for both SEC and non-conference rivalries. In addition to A&M’s trip to Baton Rouge, Auburn will host Alabama in the Iron Bowl, Ole Piss will head to Starkville for the Egg Bowl, Florida will host in-state rival Florida State and Georgia will face Georgia Tech on the road.

During the '70's, I was on vacation in Estes Park, Co. and the Tigers went up there to play.  I was flying out on Sunday, so I drove to Boulder, walked up to the stadium and bought tickets, went in on a beautiful cool day and watched us beat them handily.  Co. didn't have a good team in those days, and I had read they only expected the stadium to be half full and they were right.  Was the score 40 - 7?  Wonder how my memory is?

Looked it up, 1974, LSU won, 42-14.

  Big 8  W  42 - 14

               Yep, still kickin!

My only worry with traveling is getting into an airplane full of people. The air is recirculated in a plane. I do not want to get COVID again.  I'm still feeling the after effects.  But I would love to go to Vegas to watch the Tigers play!

Our infectious disease doc advised one of our elderly providers to wear an N95 with a surgical mask over it while plan on the ground.  After getting in air, just wear the N95.  The air they are recirculating is filtered better

I flew Jan. 6th, in and out of two of the largest airports. ATL and IAH, Houston to Atlanta. I wear a mask when they tell me. Seems to be good.
