LSUDad
After Cannons death, his family called some of my family. Dr Cannon had a young race horse, Billy want to train it. After Billy’s death, my family took the horse, moved it to New Iberia for training. The trainers are distant relatives also, to my family. Today, the horse is running in NOLA at the fairgrounds. 7th race, Chinese Bandit, Heisman was already taken. The family training the horse, Delahoussaye. https://www.fairgroundsracecourse.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Fri-Jan-29.pdf Edited January 29, 2021 by LSUDad
houtiger
I went to high school with a guy, Ray Sibbile, who became a very successful jockey. He started on the little dirt tracks around Sunset, went to Evangeline Downs in Lafayette after high school. Rode up in Chicago, then moved to California and rode at Pimlico for most of his career. He's back in Sunset now. Has not made a class reunion but says he will make the next one. Read his write up, he had some great years and impressive awards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Sibille 1
LSUDad
For the first time in a track race, the Bandit took 3rd place. Will try and call the owners to give my congratulations. The owners are the ones that I help with the Folds of Honor Golf Tournament. https://www.fairgroundsracecourse.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/fg-1-29.pdf
LSUDad
Caught up with Bandits owners, it was the first time at the NOLA track. They had raced 3 times in Laff. Never better than a 4th place finish. But they feel good on how they did. Edited February 1, 2021 by LSUDad
