LSU has its next No. 7 as the program announced that receiver Kayshon Boutte would sport the historic number during the 2022 season.

The junior receiver is set to carry on a tradition unlike any other within this LSU football program, carrying the baton from Derek Stingley Jr., who wore the jersey during his short stint in the 2021 season. This is a number with a lot of history behind it but hasn't brought a ton of success in recent years. During the 2021 season, Stingley was injured after three games and in 2020, receiver Ja'Marr Chase elected to forego his junior year and prepare for the draft after earning the jersey ahead of that season.

Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Leonard Fournette, DJ Chark, Grant Delpit and JaCoby Stevens are among the past LSU stars to don the No. 7.
