Walker Howard Enters The Transfer Portal!

LSU quarterback Walker Howard has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after just one season with the program, sources confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Howard, a former 5-star recruit in the 2022 class, received tremendous praise from the LSU coaching staff after his lone season in Baton Rouge.

With the LSU legacy “up next,” all signs pointed to Howard taking on a bigger role once Jayden Daniels’ time in Death Valley ended after 2023.

Head Coach Brian Kelly harped on the growth he’s seen from Howard since his arrival to campus last spring:

“I would say every day that he is with us, there's more knowledge because I'm in the meetings with the quarterbacks. He has a great football knowledge. He is mentally strong. He believes he is better than every quarterback we have, which is awesome. I love that,” Kelly said. “I don't mean that in any way other than he just has that kind of make-up, which is what you want. He respects everybody in the room. But, yeah, he continues to develop, and we have a good feeling about him.

An early enrollee in the spring, Howard sat behind Daniels, Myles Brennan and Garrett Nussmeier while he learned the ropes. Clearly Brennan elected to hang up his cleats, but for Howard to have some time to soak in the knowledge of a quarterback like Brennan, who has been around for quite some time, is crucial.

Not much of a surprise once Daniels decided to return.

Had ZERO to do with it.

Think about it like this.

It's NUSS staying that forced this.

The Howard's only signed with LSU after the promise of a redshirt. He was coming off injury and was clearly not ready to play in the SEC.

He gets his redshirt, but still leaves?

Whether Daniels returned or not, Walker wasn't starting next year. He's tiny and from his two appearances this season, a bit scared. So if Daniels bolts, Nuss is starter next two years at least. If Daniels stays or goes, Walker is a backup at best for a couple more years.

Matters not. He's gone and we're exactly where we were to start last season except Nuss has way more experience. You still have Daniels, Nuss, and a true freshman. Except this true freshman isn't coming off injury and demanding a redshirt.

In the age of the portal, this is how it'll be. Name the QB that left LSU and prospered. Now name the QBs that transferred TO LSU and prospered.

We win

Now, Kelly goes to the portal for another QB?

Maybe, likely. But what kind of QB wants to transfer to be third string?

You're not keeping 3 quality QBs in the portal area, imo

And I've said for a while Nuss ain't leaving. He loves LSU. He's the QB that hosts recruits on visits. He's the most rah rah dude on the team. He bleeds purple and gold.

And his dad is a helluva lot smarter than ol Jamie it seems.

Spencer Sanders - oklahoma state qb

After weeks of waiting and several rumors coming and going, former Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders has announced that he will play for Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels in 2023.

ESPN senior writer Chris Low was the first to break the news on Twitter, and in doing so surprised many around the country. Auburn was the expected landing spot for several people familiar with the situation, but it appears that Lane Kiffin, the transfer portal king, has struck again.

The plot thickens!

Ole Miss QB Kinkead Dent has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3’s Matt Zenitz has confirmed. He’s leaving a crowded quarterback room featuring Jaxson Dart, Walker Howard and Spencer Sanders.

Dent played high school football at Jackson Academy (MS), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1018 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
