LSU could make it to the national championship this season. “I think they’ve got a real chance to play for a national championship, Year 2, Brian Kelly, is that crazy,” he said on SiriusXM College. “Jayden Daniels is back, they’ve got a bunch — they didn’t lose many guys at all. They’ve got dudes.” He then referenced the LSU-Florida State game being “off the charts,” and then opened a discussion about other Year 2 coaches, like Jim Tressel and Bob Stoops, who had this kind of success. “There’s something interesting about Year 2s and LSU is a team I would say to keep an eye on,” he said. This Year 2 discussion also left out Georgia’s Kirby Smart, who had a berth in the national title game that season. Nick Saban and Ryan Day at Alabama and Ohio State also saw notable improvements in their second season, or first full season. houtiger Posted March 11, 2023 Share Posted March 11, 2023 Georgia and Gumps will be hard to beat. They seem to annually swap between either the #1 or #2 recruiting class. For the 2023 class Gumps signed five 5*, Georgia Signed three 5*, and LSU signed one 5*. The one advantage LSU will have is both Gumps and Ga. have to replace their multi year starting QB, while Jayden Daniels has been a starter for four years already.
