Baseball Unveils Retired Numbers Display CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami paid tribute to Hurricanes Baseball legends this week, unveiling a retired number display in the main concourse of Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The display, which runs along the exterior locker room wall on the first base side of the concourse, has a special plaque for each of the Miami Hurricanes who have had their numbers retired (chronologically): Orlando Gonzalez (#20), Stan Jakubowski (#29), Randy Guerra (#25), Neal Heaton (#26), Stanley “Skip” Bertman (#15), Doug Shields (#5), Mike Fiore (#12), Ron Fraser (#1), Charles Johnson (#23), J.D. Arteaga (#33) and Pat Burrell (#11). “This display recognizes 11 elite players and coaches who have helped make Hurricane Baseball the standard by which college baseball programs are judged, on the field and off,” Director of Alumni Programs Rick Remmert said. “They are a reminder of our historic past and a beacon for present and future Hurricanes to follow.”
