Some transferred out, on this roster McGlothern is not shown, so Kelly must have kicked him out before the bowl game. Some declared for the draft, some graduated. What was he left with? Something to build around, Nuss, Maason Smith, a few others. Now go look at cornerback and nickel...... Nothing there, except Sage Ryan at Nickel. Kelly started over at cornerback, from scratch. He lucked up and got two good ones in the portal for 2022, but they graduated, there for one year only. Laterrance Welch came in the 2022 class (Orgeron recruit) and Javien Toviano in the 2023 class. Kelly has no choice at CB but to go to the portal for CB, and you don't pick up all SEC corners out of the portal, usually. Now Kelly has not been setting the world on fire with his CB recruits. But, it is going to take some time, that's understandable. We looked better last year because of what was available in the portal, and this year there was not as good a selection.
