Trivia Tidbit:  when people tell you they watched the international space station pass overhead in the night sky, they are actually viewing the bomb that Hawpe hit off Mark Prior in the 6th inning in Omaha back in 2000.  The one he hit in the 8th off Pete Montrenes in the same game is theorized to have traveled too far to be viewed with any man made telescopes.

Larry McDonald Obituary

Larry Wayne (Mac) McDonald, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 25, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1940. He graduated from Denham Springs High School and attended LSU. Larry served and defended his country in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged. He then worked at Exxon Chemical for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and reader. Larry was a devoted husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, and friend. His greatest joy was supporting his grandchildren. Whether it was in sports or any other endeavor, he was always there, cheering them on with a smile on his face. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky McDonald; parents, DaisyRushing McDonald and Ben McDonald; brother, Ronald McDonald; and in-laws, Mary Lee Rancher and Vardie Rancher. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rebecca Rancher McDonald; children, Pasha McDonald Sceroler (Donnie) and Ben McDonald (Nicole); grandchildren, Jorie McDonald, Jase McDonald, Mac Sceroler (Maggie), and Kylie Sceroler Morris (Brady); sister, Shirley McDonald Underwood (Jim); sister-in-law, Ramona Pope; brothers-in-law, Vardie Rancher (Shelia) and Hardie Rancher (Lyn). Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Denham Springs, Sunday, January 28, from 1:30 p.m. until service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mac Sceroler, Jase McDonald, Vardie Rancher, Hardie Rancher, Chad Pope, Michael Sceroler, Bobby Meadors, Bart Meadors, and Guy Smith.
