Baton Rouge’s baseball bat manufacturer is now official bat of the MLB

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge-based Marucci Sports entered a license agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB) to make its Marucci and Victus brands the official bat of MLB.

This exclusive license with the MLB starts on January 1, 2025 and is scheduled to end on December 31, 2028.

Marucci and Victus are the two most used bats by MLB players making up almost 50% of the MLB market, according to batdigest.com.

The company was founded by two former big league players and their athletic trainer. One of whom is still the CEO today, Kurt Ainsworth. They began making bats in their garage for some of the best players in the league at the time. They have been in the MLB for just over two decades.

Per Marucci, the company grew because it created bats that “felt and sounded different for the players.” With no money for marketing or sales representatives, the Marucci name still spread. Before long, professional players were traveling to Baton Rouge to choose their woods and craft their bats. The company is not only the official bat of the MLB, but it’s also become one of the most used baseball bat brands in the nation.

The company’s headquarters are located off Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.  Marucci Sports provides various baseball accessories such as baseballs, gloves, chest protectors, helmets, and more.

This agreement between Marucci Sports and the MLB provides exclusive rights to use MLB trademarks on Marucci’s cutting-edge Smart Bat products, including but not limited to the embedded Diamond Kinetics bat sensor and the CATX Smart Bat.

Another of Marucci Sports’ brands, Lizard Skins, is a widely known baseball grip brand that has become the MLB’s exclusive official grip.
