LSUDad
More reports: LSU's Monday Practice Report BySHEA DIXON 3 hours ago Share0 Comments (Photo: Shea Dixon, 247Sports) The LSU football team was back on the practice field on Monday in a pad-less practice as the Tigers kicked off week one and preparations for Georgia Southern, who LSU will host in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. The media was allowed to observe just short of 15 minutes during individual drills, and here are some takeaways from the allotted practice time. *** All of the offensive linemen minus Kardell Thomas and Thomas Perry (both injured) were on hand at practice. Here’s how I saw the offensive line working with position coach James Cregg. They are listed in the order they took reps. LATEST FROM CBS SPORTSSee optimized fantasy football cheat sheets LT: Saahdiq Charles, Badara Traore, Dare Rosenthal LG: Adrian Magee, Chasen Hines, Jakori Savage Lloyd Cushenberry, Charles Turner RG: Damien Lewis, Donavaughn Campbell RT: Austin Deculus, Anthony Bradford, Cameron Wire We have seen Traore take snaps at both tackle spots and the right guard position, so he’s certainly going to be a swing man of sorts for them this year. Hines was back in action at the left guard spot as he tries to get fully healthy. Once he is, it won’t surprise me to see him leapfrog Magee at the position. Lewis was back after missing some time during camp with an injury, and all signs point to him being ready to roll on Saturday for the opener. *** The first-team offense when it came to skill players went as expected, and the group got a lot of work in during the media session. Joe Burrow was at quarterback and his three receivers with the first-team were Justin Jefferson, JaMarr Chase and Terrace Marshall. Jefferson has been seeing time in the slot and Marshall and Chase are on the outside. Once again, Thaddeus Moss ran with the first-team at tight end, but Stephen Sullivan was also getting reps there at practice on Monday. Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the first-team running back and saw the bulk of the reps during individual drills. *** The defensive line and linebackers worked on the far side of the field, which made it tougher to see what all was going on. But we did get a look at the defensive backs, notably the cornerbacks. Corey Raymond had his group working with Derek Stingley and Kristian Fulton as the first-team guys, but he was giving a lot of attention to freshmen Cordale Flott, Jay Ward and Raydarious Jones. Tons of teaching moments going on even in the little time we got to watch practice, so it’s evident he’s trying to get them up to speed during game week given that crop will play this year. Flott was taking some reps next to Stingley and has been circled as the first guy off the bench after Stingley and Fulton. Kary Vincent is the team’s starting nickel, and he worked with the safety group on Monday.
LSUDad
LSU TIGERS 5-star LSU RB John Emery Jr. already turning heads in Baton Rouge James Costeines | 5 hours ago So far, so good. RB John Emery Jr. has lived up the hype. The 5-star prospect has turned a few eyes with his play at LSU, particularly with coach Ed Orgeron. 00:03 “First of all, John Emery is everything and more that we thought about in recruiting,” Orgeron told reporters, per 247Sports. “He and Ty were the two best backs in the country, in our opinion. They’re different. He can make you miss. He has tremendous feet, he has tremendous vision. He needs to get a little bit stronger in the weight room, get more comfortable in the offense. There were a lot of times in practice that he broke outside and we didn’t catch him so he had some very explosive runs.” LSU currently has a plethora of backs, with Orgeron naming Clyde-Edwards Helaire as the starter. In addition, the Tigers have Lanard Fournette and Chris Curry. With the health of running backs a revolving door, Tiger fans have to be excited on the positive feedback on Emery. You never know when Coach O will look to ride the hot hand in the gauntlet that is the SEC.
