I notice we tighten up in the red zone.  I wonder if Aranda has gone to more of a "bend but don't break" defense, because trying to defend today's spread offenses is very hard when they have the whole field to work with?  With the failure to generate pressure on the QB, it could make it more of a necessity.

I would say overall, LSU is still a stout defense. But having trouble defending the whole field like you mentioned is made somewhat easier by the confinement of the red zone.

I remember Bill Arnsparger had a bend but don't break philosophy, and he brought it from the Dolphins.  It worked, LSU posted some good records while Arnsparger was here.
