The records keep lining up and falling for Joe Burrow, who knocked down two program marks and had a hand in another team record in LSU's defeat of Alabama.

Burrow’s 393-yard passing game was the seventh time he has surpassed the 300-yard mark this season. That broke a tie with Rohan Davey, who had six 300-yard games in 2001.

Also, with 31 completions, Burrow has 236 for the season. That broke the old mark of 232 set by JaMarcus Russell in 2008.

LSU also set a record for touchdown passes in a season. Burrow’s three scoring throws Saturday gave the Tigers 33 for the season, breaking a tie with the 2003 and 2006 teams, who each had 30.

Getting closer

In piling up 252 yards passing in the first half, Burrow became the fourth quarterback in school history to have 3,000 yards in a season.

LSU leaned on an emotional Clyde Edwards-Helaire in Alabama win: 'Nothing's too hard for him'

He now has 3,198 yards in just nine games. That moved him from sixth on the list before the game to second and soared closer to Davey’s record of 3,347 yards set in 2001.

In addition to Davey and Burrow, the only other 3,000-yard passers in program history are Russell (3,129) and Zach Mettenberger (3,082).

Burrow’s career total stands at 6,092 yards, which puts him in fifth place in the school record books. Jamie Howard is right ahead of him in fourth with 6,158.

Ja'Marr's Chase

Sophomore wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase chalked up his fifth 100-yard game this season when he lit up Alabama's secondary for 140 yards on six receptions with a 33-yard touchdown grab to cap LSU’s first possession.

The touchdown was the 10th of the season for Chase, leaving him just two shy of tying the single-season mark of 12 currently held by former LSU receiver Dwayne Bowe.

Chase’s 140 yards were the most for an LSU receiver against Alabama since 2010 when Reuben Randle had 125 yards on three catches in a 24-21 win.

LSU QB Joe Burrow earns top weekly honor for impressive showing vs. Alabama

Jake Rill | 3 hours ago

Joe Burrow has had some great games during his time at LSU, but Saturday was one of his most impressive performances yet.

Playing against top SEC rival Alabama, Burrow led the Tigers to a 46-41 victory in one of the biggest regular-season matchups in college football this season. He went 31-for-39 for 393 yards and three touchdowns, while also recording a season-high 64 rushing yards on 14 carries.

That performance earned Burrow the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week Award. It’s the second time this season that Burrow earned the honor, as he also won it in Week 2 after his big game against Texas.

Burrow has been a key reason for LSU’s success this season. He’s passed for 3,198 yards, 33 touchdowns and only four interceptions while helping the Tigers open the year with nine consecutive wins. LSU is ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll, and it could move into the top spot in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings.

With three games remaining in the regular season, Burrow should add to his impressive totals while likely leading LSU to the SEC Championship Game. And it wouldn’t be surprising to see him lead the Tigers to the conference title and a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Burrow and the Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, when they travel to take on Ole Piss at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

CFB analyst: 'Nearly impossible' to catch Joe Burrow for Heisman

Several weeks still remain in the 2019 college football regular season, but the race for the sport's most coveted player award might just be wrapped up exiting Week 11.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was brilliant for yet another Saturday as the CFP No. 2 Tigers defeated CFP No. 3 Alabama, 46-41, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to remain unbeaten this fall while taking control of the driver's seat in the SEC West. Burrow ended the day passing for 393 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for an additional 64 yards as the Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide for the first time since 2011.

Ask Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt, and he'll tell you that the 2019 Heisman Trophy is all but a lock for Burrow when considering how the LSU signal-caller has performed against ranked competition all season long -- Alabama the latest victim of the Tigers' second-year starter.

"It will be nearly impossible to catch Joe Burrow for the Heisman Trophy," Klatt tweeted out on Sunday. "He has had one of the greatest at the quarterback position that I can remember."

There's no denying that the numbers Burrow has posted against ranked opponents this season are eye-opening. Burrow did waste much time in showing what he was capable of doing this fall on a national stage either. In Week 2 at then-No. 9 Texas, Burrow passed for what still stands as a season-high 471 yards with 4 touchdowns as the Tigers prevailed in a 45-38 shootout with the Longhorns.

Roughly one month later, Burrow shined again in front of a primetime audience against then-No. 7 Florida. While Burrow's 293 passing yards weren't as flashy as the numbers he posted vs. Texas, he ended the night 21-for-24 in passing with three touchdowns while rushing for an additional 43 yards. Two weeks later, Burrow had the upper hand against yet another top-10 opponent when he passed for 321 yards and recorded two touchdowns -- one passing and one rushing -- in a 23-20 home victory against then-No. 9 Auburn.

With the win vs. Alabama, Burrow is now 236-for-299 on the season in passing with 3,198 yards and 33 touchdowns.

As for the Heisman Trophy, an award that has gone to a quarterback each of the past three seasons and eight of the past nine, Burrow's outlook was already tremendous ahead of the Alabama game. He entered Week 11 as the betting favorite for the Heisman, with 6/5 odds of taking home the award.

"Obviously growing up you watch the ceremony and knowing how much it means to people, and you want to win (the Heisman)," Burrow told Geaux247.com. "But once I got to college, I realized team success breeds those individual awards. That is all that has ever mattered to me. Winning games."

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron has called Burrow one of the most important recruits in the history of LSU football, and now the Tigers are 9-0 and likely to move into the No. 1 spot in Tuesday's release of the College Football Playoff rankings.

"You can do just about what you want with him," Orgeron said after the win vs. Alabama. "Throwing the football, extending plays with his feet and then how about those quarterback runs. He was fantastic."

LSU has remaining games against Ole Piss, Arkansas and Texas A&M before a potential trip to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta, Georgia.
