This is a feature I'll try to update throughout the season, after every 3rd game. So this is the first installment of "The Numbers Game". Let's look at some numbers. Kicker: Cole Tracy has become quite the popular young man amongst LSU fans. And why not? After the trouble LSU had last season even making XPs, the difference is night and day with Tracy. So far on the season, all he's done is make 8-9 FGs with 2 over 50 yds, and of course perfect on XPs. And lest we forget (yeah right lol), a walk off grand slam on the road in the most hostile environment possible...the game winner against AU. Kid's got "it". Avery Atkins has 15 TBs in 18 chances, great weapon regarding field position. Punter: Zach Von Rosenberg is averaging 47.5 yds after 13 punts. I left Growden out of this as his action has been more in short kicks intended to pin them deep. But Von Rosenberg has been VERY impressive! RB: Nick Brossette has been a pleasant surprise so far, and it started almost immediately in the opener against then #8 Miami. Highlighted by a 50 yd burst to set the tone in Arlington, the Sr. has tallied 346 yds and 2 TDs in 60 carries for a 5.8 ypc average. Not bad for a guy honestly forgotten about by most LSU fans after a lackluster couple of years behind Fournette, Guice, and Darrell Williams. Nick is making a name for himself. WR: Justin Jefferson is making a name for himself as the most popular Jefferson to wear the P&G. The 3rd Jefferson brother to find his way to Baton Rouge from down the road in Destrehan created some buzz in the L Club Spring Game, but seeing it translate to the regular season has been a welcome surprise. So far on the season, Joe Burrow's favorite target has collected 11 catches for 183 yds, 16.6 ypr. He's shown the ability to get open more than any other LSU wideout, and is clearly more in sync with his QB. QB: Speaking of QBs, this feature isn't going to truly capture Burrow's contribution to this team early in the season. His numbers, quite frankly, aren't pretty. There have been several drops, throw aways due to pressure, etc... That said, Burrow has shown his worth and his mettle by displaying a calm coolness able to recognize a defense and call just the right play to beat it. But this is a numbers game, so here's your number. When throwing to Justin Jefferson, Burrow has a college QBR of 155. In time he'll develop a chemistry with the others that'll allow him to improve his overall numbers, but this kid is way more valuable to LSU than any number can show. Oh, and lest we forget... ZERO turnovers! INTs: Greedy Williams leads the way this season with 2 of LSUs 5 interceptions. This surprises zero people on the planet. DBU is absolutely in full effect so far this season! Tackles: Easy call here, right? Devin White, right? White is a tackling machine, and this season is no exception. So far on the season, he's tallied 27 tackles, 9 per game, with 2 TFL and 1 forced fumble. That said... Grant Delpit (20 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT) is giving White a run for his money in the defensive player of the season competition so far. Breiden Fehoko with 3 TFL is making a name for himself in the middle as well. Dave Aranda has many weapons at his disposal. Dave Aranda also has "The Force", of that I am certain. Sacks: It's gotta be Devin White or Fehoko with all those TFL, right? I mean, it WOULD be K'Lavon Chaisson if not for his unfortunate injury in the opening game in which he did, in fact, record a single sack and multiple QB hurries. However... Michael Divinity, having only played in 2 of the 3 games so far, has tallied a pair of sacks (1.5 vs Miami and .5 vs AU) to SHARE the team lead with Grant Delpit, who also has 2 in 3 games. (I'm telling y'all, Delpit is REALLY challenging for DPOY) So there you have it...the first installment of "Numbers Game". Hope you enjoy it. Biggest Minnow was born less than a year later. Prior to his arrival, I was asked to write some stuff in this baby book. There was a portion about what was going on in the world at the time. I remember I wrote: Things are messed up in this world, son. As you grow, do everything in your power to make it a better place.

I've shared this before, but it's my story. So I was landscaping back then and had a Mexican crew. One of my guys was fluent in English, very intelligent young man. He was riding with me heading to the Southern Bone and Joint Clinic in Hattiesburg, MS when we heard the news. I pulled over. And he got it. I already had a crew on site there and we stopped to check on them, and I left him there after making sure all was going well. I had to run get some chemicals (weed control) and when I got to the supplier, the TVs were going...everyone was glued to them. At that point I realized it was terrorism, and I watched a tower fall right there at the supplier. I realized then no work would be done that day. I watched for a moment more then went to pick up the guys...tell them to head home. We're not going to work like this was some normal day. Ricardo explained to the other guys what was going on (I guess that's what he was doing) and we left. Ricardo rode back with me again. On the way back, he said "we're gonna have to leave". I asked why he thought that. He said because they'll kick us out of America. They're gonna shut the borders down and we'll have to leave. Well, that didn't exactly happen, but he was right that major changes were coming. He actually took a job with FS Pre-Stress in Atlanta and married into citizenship a couple years later. I went home and watched the TV all day. When they showed the video of the woman running from the buildings, her face covered in ash except where tears were streaming, I lost it. I was sad and it took a while for me to transition to mad. But of course I did...days later. It was refreshing in a way seeing all sides come together for a moment in time in America. That was the only positive to come of this, no doubt. And it was way too short-lived.
