Nutriaitch
heating up that he may be considering taking a HC gig. stay tuned for more info if/when it comes available.
Nutriaitch
if this happens, it won’t be about money obviously. it will be because he want to be a HC somewhere and know he has to start somewhere (probably not a big name spot either)
COTiger
I've read that UNLV & Colorado State are two schools whose names are being rumored as a potential landing spot. Edited December 11, 2019 by COTiger

COTiger
I wonder how long this is going to drag out? I wonder if Aranda is going to coach in the playoff games?

UNLV will likely want their guy working for THEM and only them leading up to the signing dates.

watson
In house candidates are Cory Raymond and Bill Bush
Fishhead
OK, here's some straight up "thoughts" I have about this. 1) I believe O and Aranda are on different spectrums when it comes to defensive style. IF there's truth to these reports, I SERIOUSLY doubt O is surprised and has no plan in place. O is a 4-3 guy if I'm not mistaken, and obviously Aranda is a 3-4 guy. I do believe there's some friction there, especially with our defense struggling to get pressure without a safety blitz the last couple years. 2) I believe, sadly, if Aranda goes, Bill Busch is a gone pecan with him. 3) There's a positive to #2. If that happens, Raymond can get a bump in pay to keep him around and take over the safeties again, and that opens a staff spot for Frank Wilson to come back. 4) The really bad part is, IMO, recruiting. Busch is a great recruiter, and Aranda is a guy LBs wanna play for. But the worst part is the timing. I mean, 8 days from the Early Signing Period. Come on! 5) I do think if it happens, he'll stay through the playoffs and quite frankly, I don't think it'll kill our focus. 6) Researching a bit, he currently makes about 1.5 mill a year more than UNLV's last HC lol. Maybe this is BS. But there is something to running your own program your own way, and maybe that appeals to Aranda. He's certainly been paid well enough that his family should be quite secure already. Who knows?

He'll be the UNLV DC before he'll be the LSU DC. And I ain't saying it's not possible, but I can't imagine in the position we're currently in, we move a DB coach to DC for his first coordinator role. We can literally get (almost) anyone we want right now. I'd be looking at Charlie Strong in a hurry. He'd at the very least be interviewed. LSUDad
Marcus Arroyo and Matt Canada are also in the running with Aranda. Matt Luke has taken the OL job at UGA.

Arroyo was locked up I thought yesterday, but since he didn't already get announced lol, I'd say he's out. Canada could always do LSU a solid and jump on this gig. Fishhead
I got this figured out now. JIMMY BURROW FOR DC!!! Change his name to Burreaux and pay the man!
dachsie
I don't expect a Power 5 team, but hell, I didn't even know UNLV had a football team. They were always a basketball school
Herb
Who knows, this could hold the same water as Les Miles to Michigan did. If it happens maybe we can bring back Pellini?
paducahmichael
Reminds me of the 2007 Championship run-up. We're preparing for the big game and Pelini is hired by Nebraska but stays on to coach D through the final game. That one worked out pretty good!
