LSUDad
LSU AD Scott Woodward announces Tigers will not hold spring game Michael Wayne Bratton | 23 minutes ago Scott Woodward just stated the obvious, LSU will not be holding a spring game this offseason. The Tigers were set to host their annual spring game on April 18 but the SEC has announced no sports activities can take place until April 15 — at the earliest. With schools across the nation and SEC shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak, it seems highly unlikely that players could even be asked to remain on campuses that mirror ghost towns and competing on the practice field in any manner appears unrealistic given the “social distancing” being practiced around the nation. LSU held a teleconference on Monday to address questions media members had regarding Tiger athletics and it wasn’t long before someone asked about the possibility that LSU holds a spring game. “Here again everyone, use common sense, we aren’t going to be practicing until April 15th and the spring game is scheduled for April 18th,” Woodward said on the call. “Do you see us playing a game? The answer here again is no. You’ll see formal clarifications coming from the conference.” You can listen to the full teleconference interview Woodward gave on Monday here, courtesy of LSU Athletics. Based on Woodward’s response, while nothing has been officially announced, it’s likely that the SEC soon announces all spring games have been canceled this offseason.
