Sophomore linebacker Donte Starks was dismissed from the LSU football team Friday for a violation of team rules, coach Ed Orgeron announced.

Starks was indefinitely suspended in February after an arrest on charges of illegally possessing a concealed handgun and attempting to run from law enforcement in Marrero.

Hope he gets his act together not just for football but for life in general.

Starks saw action in three games in 2019 as a true freshman for the Tigers. This came after the start of his college career was delayed.

This news comes after LSU indefinitely suspended Starks back in February following an offseason arrest by Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives. While not charged with any drug violations, Starks was charged with illegally possessing a concealed handgun and attempting to run from police.

Starks was a four-star recruit and signed with the Tigers out of John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana. He was ranked as the nation’s No. 10 inside linebacker prospect in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

The 2019 Under Armour All-American picked LSU over scholarship offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida and Clemson, among others.

Feb. 5, 2020 - LSU freshman linebacker Donte Starks, 19, was arrested Friday and charged with illegally possessing a concealed handgun and resisting law enforcement by flight, The Times-Picayune/ The New Orleans Advocate reported.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jason Rivarde said deputies were investigating a complaint about armed men selling crack cocaine. Rivarde said deputies tried to detain a group of men but Starks and another man ran. Deputies caught Starks and found a loaded handgun in his backpack.

Deputies didn’t find any drugs during Starks’ arrest and he has not been accused of selling narcotics, Rivarde said.

He will probably try to cut a deal, sit out of football for a year, try to come back at a Jr. college.  Just guessing.

wow .... that's going to put a lot of pressure on the LB crew ..... who's going to step up now?

We went somewhat from a 3-4 to a 4-3, we will be fine at the position. LSU along with many teams are going with  lighter quicker LB’s. Some only a little bigger than safeties. Speed on the field, look at what we did this year, down and distance had little to do with passing situations.

I think you're kinda joking, but the dude played sparingly in 3 games last season and that's his career. I honestly had to look that up because I didn't remember him on the field last year.
