houtiger
When you hear something that doesn't fit in an existing topic and want to share it, put it here. We can abandon it in a couple of months. We all want to see improvement on defense, especially LB. I saw this interview and I really enjoyed it. Worsham does an excellent job asking questions, so he must have written them down. Good interview prep. Baker is very likable and he makes sense.

houtiger
Dandy Don reported yesterday that LSU fall camp will report Friday August 6. He said O hopes to give the players 10 days off before that.
LSUDad
LSU Football: Member of Tigers’ 2021 recruiting class reportedly leaves program by Zach Ragan3h ago LSU football signed 23 players during the 2021 recruiting cycle, but one of those players is reportedly no longer with the program. 247Sports’ Sonny Shipp reported on Sunday that tight end Jalen Shead left the program after his first day with the team. According to Shipp, Shead left the program because he was “homesick”. Shead, who was rated as a three-star recruit, is from Olive Branch, MS. He didn’t visit LSU prior to signing with the Tigers because of COVID-19 restrictions. What does this mean for LSU football? Shead, 6-foot-4/240 lbs, was ranked as the No. 53 tight end in the country and the No. 14 player in Mississippi during the recruiting process (247Sports composite rankings). Of course, those ratings don’t really matter. Ed Orgeron and his staff thought Shead was a player they needed on their roster, which tells me he was capable of producing in the SEC. If Shead doesn’t return to the program, it will definitely hurt the Tigers’ depth at the tight end position (LSU already lost stud tight end Arik Gilbert this offseason). Sophomore Kole Taylor is expected to be the Tigers’ starting tight end. Beyond Taylor, the depth chart isn’t very clear. True freshman Jack Bech, a hybrid tight end, will likely see a lot of playing time in 2021. Nick Storz, a tight end who is coming over from the baseball team, could see more playing time in the absence of Shead, too. While it’s not clear how much playing time Shead was expected to see in 2021, he’s absolutely a player Coach O was counting on this season. “We have Jalen Shead coming in, we’re going to count on him playing,” said Orgeron in March to 104.5 in Baton Rouge. NEXT: Justin Jefferson snubbed by ESPN According to 247Sports, Shead hasn’t entered the NCAA transfer portal yet.

houtiger
He's a quiet humble guy. LSU needs some LEADERS. I hope he does command respect and that he finds his way to be a leader on the team. All these kids have something to prove. The recruiting has been good, we have experience coming back, they need to perform. Edited July 19, 2021 by houtiger

LSUDad
LSU football commit makes bold claim about Tigers true freshman by Zach Ragan2h ago LSU football’s had a ridiculous amount of wide receiver talent come through Baton Rouge in recent years. From Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry to Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, it’s been a who’s who of future NFL wide receiver stars for the Tigers over the last decade. It doesn’t look like that trend will stop anytime soon, either. We already know about current LSU stars like Kayshon Boutte, who set an SEC single-game record last season with 308 receiving yards in the Tigers’ win against Ole Miss. We also know about Koy Moore, Jontre Kirklin, Trey Palmer, and Jaray Jenkins — talented wide receivers who were key contributors for the Tigers in 2020. LSU also has several talented true freshmen coming in, including their three highest-rated wide receiver signees: Deion Smith, Chris Hilton, and Brian Thomas Jr. There’s another true freshman wide receiver, however, that should probably be receiving a bit Wide receiver Jack Bech was the Tigers’ lowest-rated four-star recruit that signed during the 2021 recruiting cycle. Bech, 6-foot-2/215 lbs from Lafayette, LA, was ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 57 wide receiver in the country and the No. 11 player in Louisiana. That’s not an overly impressive ranking, but it’s pretty solid. Five-star quarterback Walker Howard, an LSU commit who is rated as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class, thinks Bech should’ve rated much higher. In fact, Howard, who played with Bech at St. Thomas More, believes Bech was the best high school player in the country last season. “He was the best high school player in the country no doubt,” said Howard this week on the Jordy Culotta Show. It’s certainly possible that Howard is offering a hyperbolic statement about his former teammate. But it’s also possible that Howard, one of the most coveted quarterbacks in the country, truly believes that Bech was the best high school player in the country. NEXT: The move LSU needs to make ASAP Either way, it’s clear that Howard believes in Bech. And if a quarterback of Howard’s caliber is a believer, it means big things could be in store for Bech at LSU.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart confirmed as much yesterday when he said “Arik is dealing with some personal issues. We love him . . . Our thoughts and prayers are with him now and we hope to get him back soon.” Too bad for Arik, I hope he gets it together. But frankly, it does not sound good right now.

houtiger
Looking at Sting, I see what people say. At 6' 1" and 195, I would expect him to look a little thinner. But he doesn't look thin anywhere. At his height, I could believe he's 205 or 210.
