Herb
Prime Time is Deion Sanders. That was his nickname when he was in the NFL.
Herb
And he has officially accepted the job:https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/deion-sanders-accepts-colorado-job-buffaloes-swing-big-hoping-coach-prime-leads-major-turnaround/ I have some thoughts on this hire and the CU job in general. I have to take Otis to his doggy play date, so I'll do that sometime later today.

Herb
So my thoughts on Coach Prime going to Colorado: His resume is a little thin at best, so this is a big step up for him. He has only been HC at Jacksonville State for 2 seasons and had no prior HC or assistant coaching experience prior to that, so this is a HUGE gamble for CU. We'll see if he actually has skill as a coach at this level fairly quickly. I'm not optimistic for the Buffs, however. He is a brand unto himself, so that will probably (and has already for him) translate into a lot of recruiting success. Last year, he got the #1 recruit in the nation to go to Jacksonville State, which was quite a coup. I assume that guy and a few others from JSU will follow him to CU. Remember that the University of Colorado is in Boulder, which is probably the granola capital of the world, is one of the most "politically correct" (a term I hate because of its inherent falseness) schools on the planet. They won a co-national championship under Bill McCartney (both Gerry DiNardo and Les Miles were on his staff) but chased him out of town because of his "Promise Keepers" evangelical stuff...he had bibles printed up with the CU logo on them without permission and the community was in an uproar because of perceived "separation of church and state issues". CU cannot get out of its own way and after McCartney they had a string of really bad hires - Rick Neuhiesel (bolted for Washington after a couple seasons), Gary Barnett (was literally hiring escorts to entertain recruits), Dan Hawkins (fired after 4 pitiful losing seasons), Jon Embree (fired after going 4-21 in 2 seasons), Mike Mcintyre (fired after having 1 winning season out of 6), Mel Tucker (left after 1 season for Michigan State), and Karl Dorrel (fired after only having 8 wins in 2.5 seasons). CU seems to bend over backwards to hire African American coaches, which I think overall is a good thing considering how many players are African American and I actually applaud their efforts to get more African Americans a chance in an industry where it has been hard for black coaches to get head coaching gigs. 50% of the head coaches they have hired since McCartney are black. The problem is that so far they have picked the wrong guys. The combined won-loss record of Embree, Tucker, and Dorrell is 52-70. Hopefully, Sanders will have greater success for them. Despite Sanders' unabashed ego and self-promotion, I do think he is a good guy and can be a difference maker for his players. As noted above, his Coach Prime "brand" should yield quality recruits and he will have success in what will be left of the Pac12. The question is will he be able to game plan against teams like Oregon, Washington, and others? The other question is whether CU will give him enough resources to succeed.

Nutriaitch
so what does Mississippi State do now? it's kinda late in the game, and i doubt they were prepared to be making a coaching change this season. sure, every AD keeps an informal "short list" updated just in case, but as of now MSU doesn't even have an AD. sausage Breath Cohen is at Auburn now.
LSUDad
Mickey Joseph no longer affiliated with Nebraska football amid potential felony charges, per report Grant Bricker | 2 hours ago Mickey Joseph is now reportedly no longer tied of Nebraska football per Omaha World-Herald’s Sam McKeown. Joseph was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence on Nov. 30. Joseph took over for former HC Scott Frost after losing to Georgia Southern earlier this season. Joseph finished the regular season at 4-8 and was unable to get the Cornhuskers to a bowl game.
LSUDad
Matt Rhule is continuing to add impressive names to the Nebraskafootball program. On Wednesday, the news broke that Gordon Thomas — formerly the assistant director of football operations at LSU — is joining Rhule’s Cornhuskers program in a senior operations role, per Zach Barnett ofFootballScoop. “Gordon Thomas is joining Nebraska’s staff in a senior operations role, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday,” wrote Barnett. “Thomas was most recently the assistant director of football operations at LSU and held similar roles at Georgia Tech and LSU.”
LSUDad
More: Additionally, Thomas played for Rhule while the coach was at Temple, suiting up as an offensive lineman for the Owls as a player. Now, he’s joining the former NFL head coach’s latest venture in Lincoln. Gordon Thomas will bring a wealth of college football experience, including some powerful SEC experience to Rhule’s program. That’ll always be a plus, and it hopefully turns out to be a big help in the coach’s attempt to revive the Cornhuskers.
