houtiger:  Jace, Jeremy Hill and a couple of other media folks have commented on Harold Perkins, that when you look around the field, he catches your eye.  They talk about his combo of size and speed.  Have you noticed #10?

Jace: Yes. It's hard not to miss Harold Perkins! He definitely sticks out and has thrived at linebacker.

I think the Jeremy Hill comment was from the very first day of fall camp on the practice field.  It's pretty good that a former NFL RB could see that the first day or two of practice, only in shells.

Funny you mention Hill. One of the most underrecognized LSU players of the last decade.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- — LSU coach Brian Kelly told Harold Perkins Jr. he reminded him of Michael Jordan after the seventh-ranked Tigers beat Arkansas 13-10 on Saturday.

The freshman linebacker, whose strip-sack of Arkansas quarterback Cade Fortin with 1:17 left clinched the win and kept LSU's College Football Playoff hopes alive, had the flu before the teams kicked off, the coach said.

When Kelly told Perkins that his effort against the Razorbacks reminded him of MJ against the Jazz in 1997, Kelly said the teenager responded, “Who’s MJ?”

Harold Perkins has been turning heads in the SEC all season. Saturday, the 5-star LSU freshman linebacker helped lead the Tigers to victory over Arkansas with a monster performance in the Battle for the Golden Boot.

Perkins is the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s Defensive Player of the Week for Week 11. The announcement was made Sunday.

In a defensive battle, Perkins was the top defender on the field, recording 8 tackles, including 4 for loss, 4 quarterback sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 pass break up and 1 quarterback hurry.

Perkins is the 12th player from LSU to be recognized as a Walter Camp National Player of Week. Tyrion Davis-Price was the last Tiger recognized, picking up the honor on Oct. 17, 2021.

Perkins and the Tigers look to improve to 9-2 on the 2022 season with a win over UAB in Week 12.

Nothing is easy in Life..
It's a Win for LSU Football...
SU-13 Arkansas-10
But Harold Perkins is special.
Today he became the 1st SEC player
since 2000 to record 8 tackles, 4 QB
Sacks and 2 forced fumbles.and he
had the flu...
Didn't think I would live long enough to
see a more impactful freshman on
defense for the Tigers than Tyrann
Mathieu.
I'm watching that guy in Harold
Perkins now...

2 other players Kelly singled out on defense yesterday are Sai'vion Jones and Greg Penn, both sophomores.  Said Jones helped flushed the QB out the pocket so Perkins could give chase.  Re Penn said he played his best game of the year v. Arky. Kelly also noted that true freshman DeMario Tolan is pushing Penn for playing time and that Penn responded.

Drake Maye Wins Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award

Posted by Michael Koh | Dec 27, 2022 | ACC, Football, Sports, UNC Sports

Maye established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the country in just his first season as a starter. His total offense per game, passing yards per game, passing touchdowns and total touchdowns each rank in the top 5 nationally. His 4,115 passing yards this season are already a UNC record, and his 35 passing touchdowns are just three away from tying Sam Howell’s school record in a single season.
