houtiger Posted September 10, 2023 Share Posted September 10, 2023 I enjoyed the game. I don't enjoy beating a cupcake, but someone scheduled it so you gotta play it. The defense was concerning early on, both pass and rush defense. I think we just wore them out. I was glad to see so many second teamers get a chance to play. We didn't get to see the real Nuss because we were so far ahead they limited him to mostly running. Running backs, Jackson has passed Cain, it looks like Williams, Diggs, Jackson, Cain. Cain lacks the speed. Next week Emery can play. Williams is dependable, but I think Diggs, Jackson and Emery are more physically talented. It was hard to judge Jackson; he looked very good, but Grambling was beaten by that time, tired on defense. Collins looked good at QB for a true freshman, he was not like a deer in the headlights. Savion Jones pulled an Ali Gaye and gained too much weight. He's a ghost on defense. Secondary is still a seive. At least they tried different things with Perkins, but I'm not sure what the hell they're trying to scheme on defense. In chat we were trying to determine which LSU defense was worse. This one? Part of the issue is that Jamar Cain's replacement (Jimmy Lindsey) had to step away for a 'personal health matter' and I am not sure that his replacements have the gravitas needed in tier 1 SEC play. Maddingly, we often play down to the level of our competition but playing down to Grambling's level was too much to stomach. Let's hope the team is waking up because the cupcake part of our schedule was broken up to be sprinkled throughout the season instead of front heavy like other teams get in order to have some "practice wins".
