Dorsey, a transfer from South Florida, revealed his commitment to the Bayou Bengals on Monday afternoon. The right-handed relief pitcher announced on social media: “Blessed to announce my commitment to LSU to further my academic and baseball career,” Dorsey said via Instagram. “I want to thank God, my family and coaches who helped me throughout this journey! Geaux Tigers!” Dorsey announced his intentions to depart South Florida after two years with the program. During the 2024 season, the prized righty went 2-1 with eight saves and a 3.60 ERA (12 ER/30.0 IP) with a 1.20 WHIP. He also racked up 41 strikeouts on the season during year two with the Bulls. Now, he's Baton Rouge bound as the first commitment for LSU during the offseason after seeing seven departures over the last seven days. LSUDad
In less than an hour, the LSU baseball team landed two starting pitchers from regional foe Wofford. The latest was Zac Cowan, a sophomore from Blythewood, South Carolina. After seeing 15 appearances with one start as a true freshman, turning in an ERA over six, he improved markedly in his sophomore season. He made 17 starts, earning a 10-2 record while cutting his ERA down to 3.35. He struck out 124 batters in 24 while walking just 29, earning All-SoCon honors in the process. Cowan will be joined in Baton Rouge by his Wofford teammate Camden Wicker, who started on the mound in the second matchup between the Tigers and Terriers at the Chapel Hill Regional. LSUDad
LSU left-handed pitcher Javen Coleman has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Coleman enters the portal after spending all four years of his college career with the Tigers, now reopening up his recruitment with the potential to take is talents to the majors as well. In 2018 Coleman committed to LSU early as a high school prospect ranked the No. 2 left-handed pitcher in Texas by Perfect Game. LSUDad
LSU catcher Brady Neal has entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, first reported by @64Analytics on X. Neal had a .276 batting average this season through 44 games played. He hit nine home runs and had 31 RBI this season with a .408 on-base percentage and a .578 slugging percentage. Neal is the 11th total player and fifth position player from LSU to enter the transfer portal after the 2024 season ended in early June. Other Tiger catchers, Alex Milazzo and Hayden Travinski have run out of college eligibility, so a new face will be behind the plate in 2025 for LSU. Jay Johnson has signed five players from the transfer portal as well as five players from the JUCO level, including catcher Blaise Priester. Hatchertiger
All 3 of the players who caught for us this year are, as the song says, "Gone as a girl can get. Outta here, disappeared!" Scott Long today breaks down who is likely to step in next year and suggests it might be why Neal is moving on. Who knows? Only the Shadow knows!!! Quote With Neal’s departure, LSU will be without all three of its catchers from this year’s team, although Ethan Frey could certainly play the position. Also, LSU JUCO transfer Blaise Priester is one of the nation’s top catchers, and LSU just landed former Indiana State slugger Luis Hernandez, who can also catch. Those newcomers may very well have played into Neal’s decision.

LSUDad
Jay Johnson and the LSU baseball staff are rolling on the recruiting trail after adding a commitment from former Auburn outfielder Chris Stanfield on Tuesday. Stanfield, one of the top outfielders in the country, will continue testing the 2024 MLB Draft waters, but has now revealed his pledge to the Tigers. “Thank you God for your many blessings!,” Stanfield said. “I am very excited to announce that I will be transferring to Louisiana State University to further my athletic & academic career! Geaux Tigers!” During the 2024 season, Stanfield held a .276 batting average with four homers and 25 RBI, but impact came on the defensive side of things. Now, Johnson and Co. will work to get the sought-after transfer to Baton Rouge once MLB Draft festivities wrap up in the coming weeks. Stanfield has a third round grade for next month's draft. LSUDad
Derek Curiel is an outfielder from Orange Lutheran High School in California. He is one of the best high school players in the country and was ranked as the No. 117 prospect in the 2024 MLB draft by MLB Pipeline. It is always a nerve-wracking time for a college head coach regarding the MLB Draft. MLB teams can choose to draft players right out of high school, and it does not matter if they have already signed with a college. You can sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the country but if the MLB comes calling for a bunch of those players they may never make it to campus. Curiel was one of those guys, but he recently decided to take his name out of consideration for the MLB Draft and will now be coming to Baton Rouge. Curiel was the No. 10 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to Perfect Game.

LSUDad
LSU adds experienced pitcher, former Freshman All-American, via transfer portal Andrew Olson | 1 minute ago LSU continues to work the baseball transfer portal. The latest get for Jay Johnson’s staff comes from an in-state program. Nicholls pitcher Jacob Mayers (6-5, 205) will head to LSU to play his junior season.
LSUDad
As a freshman, Jacob Mayers made 15 appearances, all starts, for Nicholls. Over 75.2 innings, Mayers posted a 2.02 ERA. His opponents had a .175 batting average, while Mayers struck out 105, walking 58. Mayers’ standout 2023 season earned him numerous accolades. He received five Freshman All-American honors and was named the Freshman Pitcher of the Year by both Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. As a sophomore, Mayers pitched 70.2 innings. His ERA was up to 4.58 in 18 appearances (16 starts). His walks also increased to 76 in 2024. Mayers still consistently struck batters out this past season. He led the Southland Conference with 106 Ks and a .165 opponent batting average. He ranked third in the NCAA in hits per nine (4.97) and 15th in Ks per nine (13.50). Mayers still has 2025 MLB Draft buzz, meaning he’ll likely be a Tiger just for the 2025 season. The walk numbers may not be ideal, but Mayers is still a highly rated arm and a big get for LSU in 2025.

LSUDad
LSU baseball has added a U.S. Collegiate National Team player from the transfer portal LSU head coach Jay Johnson walks along the first baseline during warmups for the game against Auburn on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. STAFF PHOTO BY MICHAEL JOHNSON▲ BY KOKI RILEY | Staff writer Updated 13 mins ago Utah Valley State infielder Daniel Dickinson has committed to LSU baseball out of the transfer portal, he confirmed on social media Tuesday. Dickinson hit 18 home runs, stole 32 bases and posted a 1.131 on-base plus slugging percentage in 58 games this past season for Utah Valley. He posted a .372 batting average with nine homers in 2023 as a freshman. He's played the majority of his collegiate career at second base but also has experience at third base and shortstop. He also spent one game in left field in the Cape Cod Baseball League this summer. After nine games on the Cape, Dickinson has spent the majority of his summer playing with the U.S. Collegiate National Team. Dickinson is the 11th player LSU has landed out of the transfer portal from a Division I school and the fifth positional player. With Tommy White off to professional baseball, Dickinson fills a potential hole at third base for the Tigers. The only potential third baseman they've added this offseason is junior college transfer Tanner Reaves, who is not primarily a third baseman. High school signee and third baseman Kale Fountain could also potentially arrive at LSU in 2025. According to MLB.com, Fountain is a top-125 prospect in next week's MLB Draft. LSUDad
LSU adds pitcher Anthony Eyanson out of the transfer portal by Glen West LSU landed another electric arm out of the transfer portal late Wednesday night when UC San Diego's Anthony Eyanson announced his pledge to join the Tigers' 2025 roster. Eyanson is the eighth pitcher in the transfer portal class and 12th overall player to join the 2025 roster. It's a pitching staff that has undergone the most transformation of the Jay Johnson era for a single offseason but it's been warranted. Expected to return just a handful of pieces from the 2024 team on the mound, the emphasis in the portal has been on bringing in electric pitchers and Eyanson certainly fits that mold. In 2024 for UC San Diego, he pitched to a 3.07 ERA with 85 strikeouts, 24 walks and 28 earned runs in 82 innings pitched This is a west coast arm with Johnson's many connections from his time recruiting California as closely as any other region in the country. Eyanson has a fastball that sits 91-94 mph but has a couple of really stellar offspeed pitches including a curveball and a low 80s slider. All eight pitchers added via the portal have been right handers so the Tigers are likely banking on getting Griffin Herring back in the fold as well as a couple of left handed signees in the 2025 freshman class to help round out the roster. As much as LSU has needed to hit the portal this offseason, the solutions will need to be collective with internal development as well as welcoming new players to the rotation. "We need more than we've needed. But 21 professional players moving out over two years, that's just the way that it is. We're working but the solutions aren't always from the outside. The solutions are DJ Primeaux who on a different staff would've got more opportunities. He has a great relationship with coach Yeskie. Chase Shores, Kade Anderson, the position player group improving, that's a lot of the solution. To compete for a national title, you need more than that," Johnson said. "Part of matching up is improvement of the players on your team and we're well positioned for a lot of improvement for guys from this year to next year and then we need some help around them and we're gonna go get it."
