LSUDad Posted July 24, 2019 Share Posted July 24, 2019 Remembering a LSU Baseball Legend: Wallace "Wally" Pontiff Jr. 1980-2002. Wally passed away on this day 17 Years Ago , July 24, 2002. He was the star 3rd Baseman at LSU from 2000-2002. Later drafted by the Oakland A's. He died suddenly from a heart ailment 16 years ago today. LSU played annual baseball games at Zephyr Field in his honor. Metairie Playground was renamed in his honor. CWS Tribute to Wally..
