I would not be surprised to see Davis Price pass up Fournette and Curry.

Me neither, but trying to not get caught up in the new blood hype that seems to always occur this time of year.  Bottom line, CEH and Emery will carry most of the load, and I see Fournette in the mix as a target out if the backfield in the passing game and third down guy.

Emery will be the starter by mid-season. You read it here first.

Lol, no, I've read it a hundred times all over! And i don't necessarily disagree.

I think clyde is being a little dissed heading into this season, and I for one hope he shows what's up with his game.

Emery being a true frosh, you're right that he'll likely take a few games to get up to speed... like Fournette and other great backs. He could be the show later in the season.

The roster is generously giving Glyde an inch or two, and maybe an extra 10 lbs. He'll thrive if the spread works well. But Clyde won't be successful between the tackles as soon as Les, er... Coach O throws all that new fangled passing thing to the side.

Been said before, many, if not all starting defensive players will get drafted. Also, many of the backups.

Many will make it into a NFL camp.

Twice in 2013 and 14, nine LSU players have been drafted in one draft. Look for this year to have a great shot at passing that number. We have around a dozen Sr’s in this years class, a few Jr’s and eligible players could and will enter the draft.

This was funny, even if none of you were able to recognize the genius in my humor.

Looks like we got this pretty much right with the offensive depth chart provided by the staff today.  Hines and Magee are listed as "or" on one I've seen, and I maintain if Hines is healthy, fully, he's your LG.

RB has CEH starting followed by Fournette, then "Or" between Curry, Emery, and Price.

Moss is listed as starting TE, so got that one right.  Although it may be listed as an "or".

Take Netherly out, he's in the portal.  Why?  Because of Flott, Ward, and Raydar Jones.  Mo Hampton may see some action at CB, and Kary could too if absolutely necessary.  Kary will be the nickel, although not listed in the depth chart released today.

Hmm, swap Logan and Fehoko.  Surprising to me there.

We got Shelvin and Ika right, but I guarantee Ika plays a ton.  This is great news.

Swap Thornton and Anthony.

Swap Baskerville and Damone Clark, but they're backups regardless.  I bet they all see time.  We're sick loaded at MLB, y'all.

Likewise, but not concerned.  On the contrary, quite happy about it hearing Logan stepped up that much.  We know Fehoko is more than serviceable and depth on the DL is HUGE in my opinion.  This is quality depth

Yes, a year's experience as the starter backing you up, that is certainly quality depth.  I bet we see a lot of Brendon this year, rotate those big guys on the line and keep them fresh.

Us message board people are usually wrong when we wonder if the coaches are hiding something early in the season, waiting to roll out the "real" stuff when we face a tougher foe.  But, I wonder if they want to hide Emery a little from UT.

Well, Lanard got the first play from scrimmage last year and he's a solid back for this system.

And I wouldn't look at that as though Emery is "4th string".  For one, I've seen it as CEH, then Lanard OR Curry OR Price OR Emery.

I think Emery is #2 behind CEH, but certainly don't think he'll be starting early in the season.  It took Fournette a minute to get going if you recall.

The link is to an article that has a depth chart that is says was released by O.

https://247sports.com/college/lsu/Article/LSU-Tigers-football-team-2019-season-practice-updates-game-week-Georgia-Southern-injuries-134807634/

QUARTERBACK

Starter

4-star Joe Burrow (6-4, 216, Sr.)

Reserve

4-star Myles Brennan (6-4, 207, So.)

Skinny: With Burrow entrenched as the starter and healthy from a shoulder injury that limited him some in the spring, LSU is in the best position to start a season behind center since Zach Mettenberger opened 2013 as a returning starter. A 10-3 season, fourth-highest total in passing yards in a season (2,894), third-highest number of completions (219) and second-best total yards in a season (3,292) are numbers LSU fans have been dreaming of after years of less than stellar quarterback play. All of that was accomplished with Burrow only in the program for seven months. Brennan turned in a solid fall camp and Orgeron has spoke confident about his backup being able to succeed if called upon.

RUNNING BACK

Starter

4-star Clyde Edwards-Helaire (5-8, 209, Jr.)

Reserves

3-star Lanard Fournette (5-11, 200, Sr.)

or

4-star Chris Curry (6-0, 215, Fr.)

or

5-star John Emery (6-0, 203, Fr.)

or

4-star Tyrion Davis-Price (6-1, 226, Fr.)

Skinny: Edwards-Helaire had a solid sophomore campaign with 658 yards and seven touchdowns on 146 carries, and bigger things are expected now that he is the No. 1 back. After that, the opener will determine how the reps might shake out from there. On the first official depth chart, Fournette, Curry, Emery and Davis-Price are all listed as -or- options, meaning an order's not set. That said, Emery and Davis-Price could gradually move ahead of the others in terms of carries and playing time right out of the gate. Orgeron said on Monday that he felt Emery and Davis-Price were the two best running backs in the country last cycle.

WIDE RECEIVER & TIGHT END

WR Starters

3-star Justin Jefferson (6-3, 192, Jr.)

5-star Ja'Marr Chase (6-1, 200, So.)

5-star Terrace Marshall (6-4, 200, So.)

Reserves

4-star Racey McMath (6-3, 221, Jr.)

4-star Derrick Dillon (5-11, 186, Sr.)

4-star Trey Palmer (6-1, 180, Fr.)

3-star Jontre Kirklin (6-0, 185, Jr.)

3-star Jaray Jenkins (6-4, 195, Fr.)

4-star Devonta Lee (6-1, 223, Fr.)

TE Starter

3-star Thaddeus Moss (6-3, 249, Jr.)

Reserves

4-star Stephen Sullivan (6-5, 242, Sr.) or

3-star Tory Carter (6-2, 259, Jr.)

Skinny: So much talent and so many questions on how to get everyone involved and keep them happy, but LSU's new-look offense should spread the ball around plenty. Jefferson’s 54 receptions were two shy of Jarvis Landry’s 56 catches as a sophomore. Jefferson’s 875 yards and 6 scores topped the marks of Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.’s sophomore campaigns. He proved he could be a No. 1 guy, and Chase showed he was ready in the Fiesta Bowl when he led the Tigers with six catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. With Marshall emerging as a big threat, LSU should have one of the SEC's top group of starters and solid depth. Sullivan and Moss will both play a lot at tight end, and while Moss was listed as the starter, Orgeron said both players will see action right away this year.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Starting Center

3-star Lloyd Cushenberry (6-4, 315, Jr.)

Reserves

3-star Charles Turner (6-4, 266, Fr.)

Starting Guards

3-star Damien Lewis (6-3, 332, Sr.)

4-star Adrian Magee (6-4, 343, Sr.) or 4-star Chasen Hines (6-3, 336, So.)

Reserves

4-star Donavaughn Campbell (6-5, 360, Jr.)

4-star Anthony Bradford (6-7, 355, Fr.)

Starting Tackles

4-star Saahdiq Charles (6-4, 295, Jr.)

4-star Austin Deculus (6-7, 322, Jr.)

Reserves

4-star Badara Traore (6-7, 323, Sr.)

4-star Dare Rosenthal (6-7, 314, Fr.)

Skinny: Depth at center could be an issue and will need to be addressed as the season moves along since injuries prevented James Cregg from gaining much traction in camp. With Ed Ingram's uncertainty, he's not listed on the official depth chart for week one, leaving a potential problem at guard if a couple of injuries occur in the coming weeks. However, several tackles could play inside if needed, including Traore and Bradford. Protecting the edge is an area LSU must improve at, but Charles and Deculus appear to be ready to answer the call. Orgeron said Lewis is back from injury and will start at right guard. Cushenberry remains the anchor of the offensive line at the center spot.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Starting Nose Tackle

4-star Tyler Shelvin (6-3, 346, So.)

Reserves

4-star Siaki Ika (6-4, 354, Fr.)

3-star Joseph Evans (6-2, 288, Fr.)

Starting Defensive Ends

4-star Rashard Lawrence (6-2, 308, Sr.)

4-star Glen Logan (6-4, 309, Jr.)

Reserves

4-star Breiden Fehoko (6-2, 291, Sr.)

3-star Neil Farrell (6-4, 298, Jr.)

Skinny: After the progress Shelvin and Ika made in the spring, summer and fall camp, both will play a lot in the base 3-4 look, and while Shelvin was listed as starter, Orgeron added that Ika is still battling for the nod there. Lawrence shined in the Fiesta Bowl and Logan and Farrell showed flashes last season that should be more common in 2019. A healthy Fehoko gives LSU four veteran ends in the trenches. The starting group and backups are mostly veterans, which should bode well for the Tigers this fall.

LINEBACKER

Starting Outside Linebackers

5-star K'Lavon Chaisson (6-4, 250, So.)

4-star Ray Thornton (6-3, 227, Jr.)

Reserves

4-star Andre Anthony (6-4, 250, Jr.)

Starting Inside Linebackers

4-star Michael Divinity (6-2, 241, Sr.)

4-star Jacob Phillips (6-4, 233, Jr.) or 4-star Patrick Queen (6-1, 227, Jr.)

Reserves

4-star Damone Clark (6-3, 239, So.)

Skinny: Depth is not an issue inside or outside linebacker thanks to a run of solid recruiting. Divinity's move inside firms up the middle, but the task facing Dave Aranda is how to get Phillips and Queen on the field more often. One will start, but both are going to play plenty this season. The same goes for Clark, who Orgeron has talked up a ton over the past few weeks. A healthy Chaisson solidifies LSU's ability to get after the quarterback and there are several options on the other side. Thornton is listed as a starting outside linebacker, but it's likely the Tigers use three safeties more often.

SECONDARY

Starting Cornerbacks

5-star Kristian Fulton (6-0, 200, Sr.)

5-star Derek Stingley (6-1, 190, Fr.)

Reserves

3-star Cordale Flott (6-2, 160, Fr.)

4-star Jay Ward (6-2, 167, Fr.)

4-star Raydarious Jones (6-2, 161, Fr.)

Skinny: Stingley is a freshman starter, and Fulton's slow approach to camp allowed the young cornerbacks to get plenty of reps this past month, and freshman Cordale Flott is the player Orgeron circled as the next man up after the starters. Vincent could always play on the outside with the emergence of Cameron Lewis as his backup at nickel, but the Tigers will want to keep the trio of Stingley-Fulton-Vincent as healthy as possible. Orgeron added that Jay Ward has shown off some physicality in camp, while Jones has been banged up and trailed the others because of it.

Starting Safeties

4-star Grant Delpit (6-3, 203, Jr.)

5-star JaCoby Stevens (6-1, 228, Jr.)

Reserves

4-star Todd Harris (5-11, 190, Jr.)

4-star Kary Vincent (5-10, 185, Jr.)

Skinny: A lot of options here with the versatility on the back end by Delpit, Stevens, and Harris. Delpit gives Dave Aranda a comfort level to move guys around and the trio of co-starter types will be on the field together a lot. Stevens and Delpit will both be used in the box plenty, and the same goes with freshman Marcel Brooks, who will likely fill that same role with his pass rush skills.

NICKEL

Starter

4-star Kary Vincent (5-10, 185, Jr.)

Reserves

3-star Cameron Lewis (6-2, 197, Jr.)

Skinny: There’s so many options after Vincent and Lewis with how much nickel LSU will play. It could be another safety or another corner with the young talent on the roster. But through camp, it's been Vincent up first and Lewis with the second-team.

Editor's Note: Nickel was not listed on the official depth chart but sources tell Geaux247 the above order is correct.

SPECIALISTS

Starters

3-star K – Cade York (6-2, 189, Fr.)

Unranked Kickoff Specialist – Avery Atkins (5-11, 217, So.)

Unranked P – Zach Von Rosenberg (6-5, 240, Jr.)

9COMMENTS

2-star LS – Blake Ferguson (6-3, 235, Sr.)

Backups

3-star PK – Connor Culp (5-10, 187, So.)

2-star LS – Quentin Skinner (6-0, 253, Fr.)

Skinny: Tiger fans wish they had more time with Cole Tracy and who wouldn’t after the record-setting season he had. York turned in a great camp, hitting 16-of-19 field goals in the two scrimmages with numerous from 50-plus yards, and Atkins has kickoff duties on lock down.  The same goes with Ferguson and Von Rosenberg at snapping and punting, respectively. What isn’t listed is kickoff and punt return duties because those possibilities are endless. LSU likes having a running back on kick returns and that should be a role that Clyde Edwards-Helaire fills, while Derek Stingley will be a big weapon returning punts.
