Kiffen to Ole goldenshower is intersting.  We'll get to see if he will resurrect his recruiting shenanigans he did at Tennessee and if that might affect his friendship with Orgeron.

The other thing about Kiffen is that at both Tennesse and USC those programs have never bounced back from their respective Kiffen tenures...will that tendancy continue when he's let go 5 years from now?

Kiffin is interesting, no doubt.  He can coach an offense, no doubt.  He has a couple of failures on his resume.  The big question is does he know why he failed, has he learned from those failures, and does he know what he has to do to succeed in the future?  Much like O.  O apparently figured it out.  Kiffin may, or may not.  Old Miss is not a recruiting mecca, so no big name coach is going to go there.  To achieve success higher than their standing, they are going to have to take a chance with someone, someone that needs a second chance.  I'm surprised they didn't turn to Rich Rod.  But, we'll see if Lane Kiffin has learned from his past failures.  Ole Piss had to take a chance, throw the ball deep and see if they can complete a Hail Mary.  Can Kiffin deliver?

Kiffin really only has one “failure” on his resume, Oakland Raiders.

he quit at Tennessee (after a winning record).
never had a losing record at USC. In fact, was 13-4 over his last 17 games and had them Ranked in top 5.

Lane got fired for being a dipsh¡t and a douchebag.

and that is so embedded in his DNA that i don’t think he can change. Saban was ready to run him out of town too.

Lane can coach. No doubt about it.
it’s the rest of the package that dooms him.

good thing for Kiffin, Oxford is full of dipsh¡t douchebags, so he’ll fit right in.

Report: Missouri hires Eli Drinkwitz as its new head coach

SDS Staff | 2 hours ago

The Missouri Tigers have a new head coach, according to ESPN’s Chris Low.

The Tigers have hired Appalachian State’s Eli Drinkwitz to replace Barry Odom. Drinkwitz led Appalachian State to a 12-1 record this season — his first season — after winning the Sun Belt Conference Championship Saturday over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Lane Kiffin appeared to be the big candidate for the three open SEC jobs, and once his hire to Ole Piss became official, dominoes started falling. Arkansas and Missouri were both pursuing Drinkwitz, but he has chosen the Tigers, according to Low.

Drinkwitz is an offensive guru as a Gus Malzahn disciple. He worked under Malzahn at Auburn, and he was primed to land a good job after a great season in Boone, North Carolina.

By Sunday night, Drinkwitz was the only candidate that Missouri was pursuing, and an agreement has been reached, per the report. While Drinkwitz isn’t a huge name on the coaching carousel, he could be one of the better hires in 2019.

Odom was a defensive-minded coach, and now, Missouri turns to an offensive-minded head coach in Drinkwitz.

Chad Morris to Auburn as OC.

not cool.

This will actually affect recruiting in this cycle.  Kid that had been committed to Arky but was considering LSU, prolly going to AU now.  He was all about some Chad Morris.

That said, he is a February signee and potential grade issues.

Arkansas officially announces the hiring of Kendal Briles as offensive coordinator

Jake Rill | 11 hours ago

It’s official — Arkansas has its new offensive coordinator.

The Razorbacks announced the hiring of Kendal Briles on Monday, giving new head coach Sam Pittman’s staff another experienced top assistant. Briles spent the 2019 season as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Florida State, but he was not retained after former Seminoles head coach Willie Taggart was fired midseason.

Briles was previously an assistant at Baylor (2008-16), Florida Atlantic (2017) and Houston (2018).

“We are very excited to have Kendal, his wife Sarah and their three children join us at Arkansas, they will be a welcomed addition to the football family we are building,” Pittman said in a statement. “Kendal brings an innovative offensive approach to our coaching staff. His offenses have been successful by both running and throwing the football in some of the nation’s most competitive conferences. He is well known for his ability to both recruit and develop young men into outstanding football players.”

Miami announces offensive coordinator Dan Enos has been fired following embarrassing Independence Bowl loss

Michael Wayne Bratton | 3 hours ago

It only took Manny Diaz one season to make a major shakeup on his Hurricane coaching staff.

If you missed it, Miami finished the 2019 season with a 14-0 loss to Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl. There had been speculation leading up to the game that offensive coordinator Dan Enos would be leaving the program.

Based on Miami’s offensive production in the game, you have to wonder how much gameplanning Enos actually did for this bowl matchup.

The Hurricanes turned the ball over three times, had 74 rushing yards and passed for only 153 yards and had only 15 first yards against Louisiana Tech. That led the school’s AD to release a statement stating that changes would soon be made following the 6-7 season.

Not long after that, the program announced Enos was out.

“The University of Miami football program announced Friday that Dan Enos has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.”

There have been plenty of Alabama fans enjoying this news as Enos was expected to be Nick Saban’s new offensive coordinator this time last year before the assistant coach up and left Tuscaloosa in the middle of the night without informing the Crimson Tide head coach. Now that odd decision by Enos looks all the more bizarre, as he’s been let go after just one season in Coral Gables.

Dallas Cowboys fire head coach Jason Garrett

ByBRAD CRAWFORD 19 minutes ago

The hammer has finally come down on Jason Garrett.

The Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones made the move to fire the 10th-year head coach — and all of his assistants —  on Monday following the weekend's win over Washington Redskins that closed out the regular season at 8-8.

After a 3-0 start gave way to immense optimism, the franchise fell short of expectations this season with two separate three-game losing streaks after going 10-6 and winning the NFC East last fall.

In the final year of his contract, Garrett's team squandered several opportunities including a winnable Week 17 game at Philadelphia that would've clinched the division and a Playoff berth, but instead reflected glimmers of another disappointing campaign.

Jones, who has been in support of Garrett ad nauseam this fall, changed his tune a bit after several late-game decisions were questioned and the offense continued its spin of inconsistency. Garrett, who has coached the Cowboys since 2010 and never advanced past the second round of the postseason, made several head-scratching decisions in the second half that may have proved the difference in the game.

"It leaves, from my perspective, a lot to consider here," Jones told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. "This was a little bit of a surprise. I didn't see the Chicago Bears game coming (a 31-24 loss in Week 14) and this one was a surprise. I thought we were prepared to play. I thought we could play better out here. I'm disappointed.

I just read that the Jones'& Garrett are meeting again tomorrow.  Doesn't sound like he's been fired to me.  Perhaps the hammer drops tomorrow.

Could be.  Jones out of consideration of 10 years of coaching, may have given Garrett the chance to speak about what the failures were this year, and what needs to be done to correct it next year.  Jones to think about it overnight and decide tomorrow.  Of course, Jones may have already made his decision, and he just wanted the inside scoop from Garrett before he lets him go.  I doubt many survive that questioning after it has reached this point.

no way in hell Jerry Jones gave any sort of consideration to Garrett or his longevity.

He’s a prick like that.

The biggest difference between the Redskins and the Cowboys is that at least Jerry Jones played the game and therefore picks somewhat better players to tell his management to draft.

Other than that, both teams are a nightmare job.  Sure you get a hefty paycheck, but both teams have owners that are convinced they are the smartest people in the room and the respective coaches have little say into getting players that fit into their system.

MSU boards seem to think Napier (currently at USL) is a done deal.

it's being hinted that they flirted with Joe Brady as well.
not sure if they mean as Head Coach or coordinator though.

some guy claiming to have ties to Louisiana says Brady will be getting something north of $2mil a year from LSU.

Sounds like OC in waiting.

they used the term “Co-OC” and “Assistant HC”.

don’t know if this guy knows anything at all though, so could all be mostly bullish¡t.

A. Would anyone (especially in SEC) offer their HC gig to guy with as little coaching experience, of any kind, as Brady?

B. Would Brady really turn down an SEC head coaching gig? Even if is in Starkville?

Moo State played their cards wrong by waiting until after the bowl game to fire Morehead now they have to play catch up finding a coach. For example waiting gave UL the opportunity to lock up Napier
