Nutriaitch
State fans’ confidence in getting Napier is starting to decline. a lot. they seem to be settling on the realization that the top 3 candidates now are: Gene freaking Chizik Troy Calhoun (Air Force) Jeff Monken (Army) I mean if that’s the only 3, i’d personally have to go with Calhoun. he has an NFL background as well ass the Veer/Option he’s running at Air Force. Could be interesting at State.
Fishhead
Lol looks like they're trying to run the triple option
COTiger
I would bet more than a dollar that Troy isn't leaving the Academy.

I don’t know much about it. But he did (reportedly) interview with Cohen at State this weekend. Just saying if he could blend that veer style option with modern NFL type concepts it could be something interesting to see.

COTiger
I lived fairly close to Steve Worster and had a couple of beers with him before I joined the USAF. He joined the Longhorns and he was their fullback on a couple of their National Championship teams.

LSUDad
ESPN's Chris Mortensen explains how close Dan Mullen was to being the Dallas Cowboys coach Keith Farner | 1 day ago Florida’s Dan Mullen was seen as a dark horse among the several candidates mentioned for the Dallas Cowboys’ job in recent weeks. But during a segment on ESPN’s “First Take,” Chris Mortensen said Mullen would have been the choice if the Cowboys went with a college head coach. Mortensen said owner/general manager Jerry Jones may have given a hint recently when he said the data about college coaches coming into the NFL is not good, and “he’s right about that.” 00:13 04:39 00:21 Speculation about Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley, Baylor’s Matt Rhule or former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer did not “match up with the data he’s seen,” Mortensen said. Jones ultimately went with an experienced NFL head coach with a track record of success. “Stephen Jones was definitely involved in this process, but Jerry’s voice was the voice,” Mortensen said. “… Stephen certainly talked through this, but it was Jerry’s decision and Jerry decided he wanted NFL extensive head coach with a track record.” Mullen about three weeks ago addressed his NFL aspirations, and how he feels about being at Florida. “I know what I have here, I love being here,” he said. “We’re building a championship program here. At some point in my life, would it be something if I wrote it all down, and sat it down to consider it, then that would happen. But it’s nothing I’d even thought of, I know how it works here. I like it here. I’m kind of the, don’t make it too big, but you’re kind of like, you’re kind of the owner, GM, vice president and head coach. I’ve got a lot of control about how the program works here.”

Nutriaitch
but seriously, i think State may have forgotten who they are and overplayed their hand. just being IN the SEC is not automatically going to land the big name guy. You’re in the toughest division in the country. You’re one of 3 schools drawing from a small (quantity wise) state population. You’re way behind the 8 ball timing wise on this hire. If they don’t land Napier (their top target), the. who do they go after? A coordinator? That’s who they just fired.

Nutriaitch
so apparently, Miss State’s AD is a complete dickbag prick. And it is hurting them in negotiations. I mean i never would have guess that cocksucker Cohen could possibly be a prick off the diamond too!
