Fantastic interception, seems like a top 10 interception in the last 10 years.  Who else could go up so high and intercept the ball with one hand?  That was really something special in my book!  JaCoby has developed a little slower than I thought, but he has gotten where he needs to be.  Good on him!

on the SEC Network show Marty& McGee they have a lengthy interview with Jacoby Stevens ..... and he comes across as a respectable young man .... be proud that you have athletes like this representing your school ... good kid.  Highly recommend the interview ....

I agree.  I didn't see the interview you did, but earlier in the year I saw one, and I was very impressed.  He's humble, sort of quiet, but very respectful and engaged.  He was a 5* recruit, and he's playing to that ability.

BATON ROUGE – For the second consecutive week, LSU safety Jacoby Stevens has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Stevens, a sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tenn., led the Tigers with 10 tackles in Saturday’s 23-20 win over ninth-ranked Auburn. It was LSU’s third win over a Top 10 team this year.

Stevens paced an LSU defense that held Auburn to 287 total yards, including just 130 on the ground. Auburn went into the contest leading the SEC in rushing with 240 yards per game. Of Auburn’s 130 rushing yards, 111 came on two plays – a 41-yard run at the end of the first half and then a 70-yard run early in the third quarter.

After Auburn took a 13-10 lead early in the third quarter, LSU’s defense forced punts on six consecutive possession as the LSU Tigers regained the lead, extending its advantage to 23-13 during that span. For the game, LSU limited Auburn to just 5-of-18 on third-down opportunities and forced the Auburn Tigers to punt 10 times.

Stevens currently ranks second on the team with 49 tackles. He’s also added 2.5 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks and two interceptions.

The honor is the second straight for Stevens, who was also tabbed with the award following LSU’s win over Mississippi State two weeks ago.
