" In a 64-63 win over Denham Springs, Finley was 23-for-39 passing (59%) for 601 yards and seven touchdowns. He also added two rushing touchdowns, and Finley grabbed the game-winning two point conversion on a trick play that ended up being a pass back to the quarterback."

LSU has landed commitment No. 5 for the 2020 recruiting class, and they reeled in Louisiana’s top-ranked prospect in the process.

On Sunday, Westgate High four-star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte confirmed that he had committed to the LSU staff, handing over his commitment to both head coach Ed Orgeron and wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph.

Boutte made an unofficial visit to LSU on Saturday to see the team’s 19-3 win over Mississippi State, which was one of a handful of unofficial visits he has made for games at LSU this season

With the 7-1 start on the field, the Tigers are now seeing the fast start pay off. Boutte is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 11 wide receiver in the country and the No. 66 overall prospect in the 2020 class. His ranking on 247Sports is even higher, pegged as the No. 10 wide receiver in the class and the No. 51 overall prospect in the country.

The New Iberia native is LSU’s fifth commitment for the 2020 class and the team’s fourth addition on the offensive side of the ball, though Boutte has the versatility to play either wide receiver or cornerback at the college level

The Tigers also hold commitments from three other four-star prospects on offense in wide receivers Darin Turner and Kris Abrams-Draine and quarterback TJ Finley. Like Boutte, Abrams-Draine is viewed as an athlete who could play on either side of the ball in college. LSU’s other commitment comes from the defensive side with a pledge from four-star defensive lineman Jaquelin Roy.

The commitment from Boutte moves LSU’s 2020 recruiting class up to 116.07 points on the 247Sports Team Rankings. That moves the Tigers from the No. 6 class in the country up to the No. 4 recruiting class, moving ahead of Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

LSU currently has five OL commits for 2019 already:

--  Kardell Thomas, OG, 5*, 6-3, 356, Southern Lab HS

--  Ray Parker, OT/TE, 4*, 6-5, 275, Ruston HS

--  Anthony Bradford, OT, 4*, 6-5, 320, Muskegon HS (Michigan)

--  Thomas Perry, OT, 3*, 6-5.5, 325, Teurlings Catholic HS

--  Charles Turner, OC, 3*, 6-4, 260, IMG Academy (Florida)

Now assuming all five of these fellas stick that's a pretty good haul in itself.  Plus, LSU switched both Dare Rosenthal (OT) and Chasen Hines (OG) over to the OL already this season, with Hines kicking butt at OG so far.  Also have heard on TOS that it's looking better lately that Ed Ingram may be able to return to the team next season.  Having said all that, unless a real big fish on the OL wants to get onboard between now and NSD I don't know if they'll add anybody else on the OL in this class.  Still got some other spots to fill with numbers pretty tight.

What's our status on recruiting Oline?  That seems to be our biggest weakness outside of QB

We return all but one player, Brumfield. Only three will be Sr’s. next year, Tradore, Magee and Damien Lewis. We are in good shape next year, with the addition of a few more. We only have around 9 Sr’s in this class. The loss of 2-3 to an early draft.

But to add, we should sign around 25 in this upcoming class.

Remember this, LSU along with many other colleges, are looking for transfer students, this has opened up a entire recruiting page. Look at the number of transfers on this years team.

BREAKING: Top national 2020 CB Elias Ricks commits to LSU

By Mike Scarborough
December 25, 2018

What a Christmas present Ed Orgeron and his LSU football program has received as 2020 five-star cornerback Elias Ricks‍ has announced his commitment to LSU.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Ricks Santa Ana, Calif. Mater Dei High has been on the LSU campus several times this year for unofficial visits. Once earlier in the spring and earlier this football season for the Ole Piss game weekend.  Tiger defensive backs coach Corey Raymond has also been out to California to visit in the last month.

The highly sought after Ricks committed to LSU over USC, Ohio State, UCLA and many others.  The signing of Ricks in 2020 would give LSU two-straight years of signing the nation’s No.1 overall cornerback prospect.  Number one overall prospect Derek Stingley Jr. signed with LSU and the class of 2019 last week.

With the addition of Ricks, LSU now has nine commitments for the class of 2020.

Elias Ricks makes Christmas Day commitment to LSU

ByBILLY EMBODY 62 minutes ago

It was quite the Christmas present for LSU and head coach Ed Orgeron as the Tigers reeled in a Christmas Day commitment from 2020 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei cornerback Elias Rickshe announced on Twitter. The five-star prospect is the No. 1 cornerback, meaning if he ultimately signs with the Tigers, that'd give LSU back-to-back years with the No. 1 cornerback in the country after signing Derek Stingley, Jr. in 2019.

The 6-2, 180-pound cornerback ranks as the No. 9 overall prospect in the country, No. 1 cornerback in the country and No. 3 prospect in California, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. On 247Sports, Ricks ranks as the No. 11 overall prospect in the country, No. 2 cornerback nationally and No. 4 prospect in California.

Ricks has made multiple unofficial visits to Baton Rouge, spending time with the coaching staff, including defensive backs coach Corey Raymond. Safeties coach Bill Busch was out west during the contact period and stopped in at Mater Dei as well.

"We had a great time," Ricks said of his visit for the LSU-Ole Piss game. "We definitely were seeing a lot of the things we liked. The coaches were very transparent with him. It was a real friendly time. We met with Coach Raymond and met with Coach O. It was just pretty much a good visit all the way around the board. We took a tour around the campus, and it was nice. We went to the game, of course. We had a great time there. It was a real big win. Overall, it was great feel."

The 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite was USC with 64 percent of the picks, but the Tigers had picked up the last four picks with the Geaux247 staff leading the charge along with 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

As one of the juniors to attend The Opening Finals in Dallas, Ricks ran a 4.68 40-yard dash, 4.21 shuttle and jumped a 34-inch vertical. 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins has seen Ricks make plays all over the field on a regular basis.

"You just don’t see too many corners with his length, athleticism, instincts, ball skills and toughness," Biggins wrote in November. "He’s so fluid in his movement, has loose hips, explosive in and out of his breaks and his 6-3 frame can just swallow up an opposing receiver."

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC and plenty of others extended offers to Ricks. Ohio State also had a pick in the 247Sports Crystal Ball to land Ricks.

With nine commitments, LSU remains at No. 2 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, but inches closer to catching No. 1 Alabama. Stick with Geaux247 for Ricks' full reaction to his commitment and who might be up next to land with the Tigers in their 2020 recruiting class.
