Quarterback Max Johnson finalized his paperwork with the Tigers. Johnson joins TJ Finnley as one of two quarterbacks set to join the Tigers this period. Son of Super Bowl winner and two-time Pro Bowler Brad Johnson, Max is the 10th-ranked pro-style quarterback and 27th player in the state of Georgia. Johnson held offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and more. His decision to join the Tigers was a bit of a surprise given his dad’s ties to Florida State, and that his uncle is Mark Richt, who was still coaching at Miami when Johnson made his commitment to the Tigers.

4-star New Jersey RB names LSU to top 5

SDS Staff | 3 hours ago

LSU is the only SEC team in the mix for a top running back out of New Jersey.

On Thursday, 4-star RB Jalen Berger released a top five of LSU, Penn State, Rutgers, UCLA and Wisconsin. The Don Bosco Prep running back is listed at 6-feet, 205 pounds and rated the No. 2 New Jersey product, No. 11 running back and No. 109 prospect overall nationally for the 2020 class on the 247Sports Composite. Berger has collected 30 scholarship offers. LSU does not yet have a running back in its 2020 class of 21 (19 signees plus 2 verbal commitments).

247Sports’ Brian Dohn sees the NFL in Berger’s future:

Great frame for running back or safety. Carries 205 pounds like 190. Smooth and athletic. Looks effortless and plays with great body control. Hits hole with purpose and accelerates through it quickly. Plays faster than 40 time of 4.6 seconds. Has breakaway speed. Quick feet and loose hips make him elusive in open field. Can line up at receiver or slot. Needs to add upper body strength. Running with lower pad level important. Becoming more physical is a must. Major contributor at a top program. Mid-round NFL draft pick.

Ed Orgeron and the LSU football coaching staff added another cornerback to the class of 2020 Saturday afternoon as Dwight McGlothern‍ of Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas announced to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound McGlothern committed to LSU over USC, Arkansas, Texas, Virginia Tech, Oregon and many others during the All American GAme broadcast on NBC.

McGothern finished his senior season with four interceptions.  Offensively he totaled 1,750 all-purpose yards as both a receiver and return man.  He had 1,300 yards on 66 receptions.

With the addition of McGlothern, LSU now has 21 prospects signed and committed for the class of 2020.

UGA released That Zach Evans kid from his NLI

wonder who will bite....

From what I've read, he can't sign another NLI and a school would have to:  a. have a scholarship available; and b. be willing to rely solely on his verbal "commitment".  Not sure where he ends up but here is some intel:

Quote

The Tigers and Texas A&M were two other programs that were among Evans' group of finalists. Alabama signed three running backs in the Early Signing Period, while Texas signed five-star Bijan Robinson and four-star Jaden Hullaby, an athlete who could line up at running back. The Aggies signed four-star all-purpose back Devon Achane and three-star running back Deondre Jackson.

Meanwhile, LSU didn't sign a running back in December and don't have one committed for the 2020 cycle.

LSU junior Clyde Edwards-Helaire is likely to enter the NFL Draft after his huge season in 2019, which would give LSU three returning scholarship running backs next season. True freshmen Tyrion Davis-Price and John Emery received the lion's share of touches behind Edwards-Helaire, but redshirt freshman Chris Curry earned the starting nod in the Peach Bowl against Oklahoma and shined with Edwards-Helaire in a limited role as he recovered from a hamstring injury.

A couple players the staff has their eyes on.

KEVONTRE BRADFORD, RB, LANCASTER, TEXAS

(Photo: Billy Embody, 247Sports)

247Sports Composite Ranking: 4-star, No. 14 RB, No. 136 overall

Where they're leaning: Undecided

The latest: Oklahoma State, Texas and Missouri have reportedly entered the race late for Bradford, but LSU is the reported frontrunner. However, he is one of several ballcarriers the Tigers are pursuing this cycle and it's unclear where he sits on LSU's board at the position. In three varsity seasons, Bradford ran for more than 3,000 yards and scored 42 touchdowns, along with 335 receiving yards and three TD catches. As a senior in 2019, Bradford ran for 1,563 yards and 23 TD's on 9.2 yards per carry, while catching 12 passes for 242 yards and three scores on 20.2 yards per reception.

247Sports Composite Ranking: 4-star, No. 19 OT, No. 227 overall

Where they're leaning: Undecided

The latest: LSU is in on Crawford, whom Geaux47 caught up with after the national championship game, "I knew they was gonna win it. Let’s be honest," Crawford told insider Billy Embody. According to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks, Crawford has a high ceiling at 6-5, 335 pounds. "Big-framed, stout offensive lineman who initially looked like a guard projection but now appears to be a legitimate tackle prospect at the Power 5 level," Brooks writes in his scouting evaluation. "Possesses college-ready size. Long-armed, barrel-chested, and flat-stomached. Strong lower body. Showed seismic improvement from sophomore to junior season. Good motor. Encouraging nimbleness in pass protection relative to size. A terror when cutting loose at the second level in the run game."

LB Antoine Sampah living up to the hype in the Polynesian Bowl:

Quote

ALPHA DOG

LB Antoine Sampah- Sampah had a game high nine tackles and was all over the field. It wasn’t even the numbers, it was the way he flashed to the football. He caused a late fumble that led to the game winning touchdown and looked like the most athletic player on the field. The LSU signee will need some time in the weight room to add some good weight and strength but he showed he can definitely play at a high level.

Dandy Don reports that 5* DL Jordan Burch (who is verbally committed to USCe) is at LSU this weekend on an unofficial visit (on his own dime).  On his own dime, that sounds like he is very interested in LSU.  He has a visit scheduled next weekend at USCe.  So, we're still in it this weekend.

Add another four-star to LSU's recruiting class.

On Sunday, Mississippi wide receiver Alex Adams shut down his recruiting process and committed to head coach Ed Orgeron and wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph, giving the Tigers a third receiver in the 2020 class. Adams joins Kayshon Boutte and Koy Moore as the trio of wideouts the Tigers have added this cycle.

This weekend, Adams and his family spent three days on campus, which was all he needed to see to know where his future home would be.
