LSU basketball player Wayde Sims killed in shooting near Southern University LSU basketball player Wayde Sims killed in shooting near Southern University By Danae Leake | September 28, 2018 at 4:11 AM CDT - Updated September 28 at 5:47 AM BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU basketball player Wayde Sims, 20, was killed in an early Friday shooting near Southern University, according to Baton Rouge police. Detectives are investigating the homicide that happened in the 600 block of Harding Boulevard around 12:25 a.m. This is located across the street from Mumford Stadium and the tennis courts. Police said Sims, a junior attending LSU with a forward position on the team, was transported to a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. Police said Sims died due to the injury. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867. In his sophomore season, Sims played 32 games with 10 starts, and was the 2014-2015 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year.   8. Their WR Teddy Veal is the real deal. He's on the Belitnikoff Award watch list this year. He was a transfer from Tulane - who as we all know - had a National Championship not too long ago (excuse me while I get back on my chair). I can see Veal burning us for a TD...he'll play on Sundays somewhere.

  16. Photo that my brother took. He worked for the Washington Times then and was dispatched to NYC...on his way out of town he was about 1/2 mile from the Pentagon when it was hit. He detoured and was the 1st photographer at the scene. The next day he drove up to NYC and took this pic.
  17. I was at work. My office was in Alexandria, VA. When the plane hit the Pentagon, we found the roof access of the building and watchd the smoke that was left from the fireball slowly rise up. Usually, the DC beltway is like a race track. That day there was only an occasional car driving on it...everyone was inside watching the news. Once flights were grounded the only planes you'd see in DC were fighter jets on patrol. Most surreal day ever. Then the anger set in.
