LSUDad
As for the Pros. NFL Black Monday 2019: What Coaches Are Being Fired? SHERLON CHRISTIE | ASBURY PARK PRESS | 3 hours ago SportsPulse: USA TODAY Sports' Lorenzo Reyes helps you pick some winners heading into Week 17 of the NFL season. USA TODAY SPORTS Why is the first Monday of each year so important in the NFL? It is typically the day that most NFL teams fire their head coach and/or coordinators after a season of unfulfilled expectations. Some teams don't even wait till this "official day" any more like the Cleveland Browns (who are always firing coaches) and the Green Bay Packers, who made a rare change. The mid-season causalities were former Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson and former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy. Now, we're awaiting the reports of the next wave of firings. Follow along as the announcements come during the NFL Week 17 games. Broncos (24): A few weeks ago, they looked primed for a playoff push. Now Vance Joseph is officially lording over Denver’s first consecutive losing campaigns since 1972. THEARON W. HENDERSON, GETTY IMAGES Although there is no official word out there yet, John Elway, the Denver Broncos president of football operations/general manager, flirted with the idea of canning Vance Joseph last season in what would have been a "one-and-done" situation in the mile high city. But it appears that Joseph will not survive this year's NFL Black Monday situation. Fox NFL Insider Jay Glazer said on Fox NFL Sunday that he believes Vance Joseph will be one of the coaches fired for the NFL's Black Monday. Stay tuned. JAKE ROTH/USA TODAY SPORTS No official word from the Arizona Cardinals has been seen yet, but reports over the last week have Steve Wilks as an "one-and-down" NFL head coach. Fox NFL Insider Jay Glazer said on Fox NFL Sunday that he believes Steve Wilks will be one of the coaches fired for the NFL's Black Monday. The former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator took over the Cardinals last season and has dealt with a bunch of injuries and with inserting rookie quarterback Josh Rosen into the starting lineup. But even with all that, it appears that Wilks will not get a chance to "run it back." It was rumored that Jackson and Haley didn't get along and Browns management had enough of the quarreling between the two men. The Browns named defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2018 season. In the meantime, Jackson joined the Cincinnati Bengals staff on Nov. 12, 2018 as a "special assistant to the head coach." It has been rumored for months that McCarthy, who has spent the last 13 seasons in Green Bay, and the team's star quarterback Aaron Rodgers were not getting along. McCarthy was on the "hot seat" when the season became and all indications were pointing toward his firing at the conclusion of the season, if the team didn't perform well. Well that tells me that Richt must have just woke up one day and wanted out. Had he let Miami know sooner he would be moving on no way they let Diaz go. I honestly never saw Richt as a fit in Miami even though I know he played there. That's a guy I'd like to see in the booth. Bet he would do a good job, although there really isn't that much competition.
