My WVU friendss are pretty excited about the hiring of Neal Brown from Troy as their HC to replace Dana Holgersen.  They think it'll be a pretty good upgrade.

Holgersen had worn out his welcome in Morgantown and they look at him getting hired away to Houston as a favor.

BATON ROUGE – LSU senior offensive assistant and passing game coordinator Jerry Sullivanannounced his retirement from football on Wednesday.

Sullivan, who spent seven years on the LSU coaching staff from 1984-90, joined Ed Orgeron’s staff as a consultant in 2017 and was then elevated to senior offensive assistant and passing game coordinator for the 2018 season.

One of the most respected wide receiver coaches in football, Sullivan spent 25 years in the NFL before coming back to LSU in 2017.

“Jerry had a great career, one that saw him develop, groom, mentor and train some of the best to ever play the wide receiver position at any level of football,” Orgeron said. “I can’t thank Jerry enough for the contributions he made to our program over the past two years.”

A few Former LSU Assistant Coaches in the news:

Mack Brown is now the Head Coach at North Carolina, he has fired Darrell Moody, Moody was at LSU from 79-83 as the RB's coach. FYI, many folks think Brown was the OC at LSU, he was the QB's coach in 82. George Belu was the OL and OC at LSU during that time. Belu was in name the OC, but Brown called the plays.

Freddie Kitchens is now the HC for the Cleveland Browns, he has retained WR Coach Adam Henry, Henry was the WR coach at LSU from 12-14. Kitchens was a GA at LSU during the 2000 season.

I thought Brown was the OC.  While he was here (the first two years of Jerry Stovall era), LSU had a good unpredictable offense.  After Brown left (for head coach at App. St. IIRC), LSU / Stovall had two poor years that led to Stovall's firing.  Mack Brown was a hot rod at one time, but his final years at UT were pretty poor.  At one time he was a top recruiter at UT, but after the nat. champ. with VY, not so much.  Do they get complacent, stop doing their homework on recruits and just go by Rivals.com stars?  It happens to many of them, but not Sabini.

Like I said, he called plays. Stovall once he took over the job after the death of Bo, kept the staff intact. Some of the players kept their commitment to LSU after the death of Bo.

As for Mack, he followed stars, getting most of his class early. Then some of them, never improved their Sr years.

Mack recruited the Desoto High kids, he signed the highest rated DB on the team, Bryson Echols, LSU recruited Jalen Mills. Jalen started as a true Freshman, Bryson, never really did anything. Bryson ended up transferring out to play at Zona St. Mills got a Super Bowl ring.

One year, UT didn’t have a player drafted into the NFL

Wonder if he'll hit on Patrick Peterson's mom?

Kliff has hired a friend of mine, some might remember Phil Bennett, Former DC at LSU. Phil’s Son Sam has been hired into the NFL, in the Cardinals staff. Sam worked on the staff at Arizona St with Kevin Mawae.  Sams Bio:

After spending the past three years at Arizona State, Sam Bennett enters his first season with the Cardinals as a coaching assistant after he was hired in February, 2019.

The son of veteran college coach and former Arizona State defensive coordinator Phil Bennett, Sam worked as an offensive analyst with the Sun Devils in 2018 after serving as an offensive graduate assistant for two years (2016-17). During his three seasons with Arizona State, the Sun Devil offense averaged 31.7 points and 413.3 yards per game.

In 2018, RB Eno Benjamin became the first Sun Devil to lead the Pac-12 in rushing with a single-season program-record 1,642 yards. He led the conference with 16 rushing TDs and had a school-record nine 100-yard rushing games. QB Manny Wilkins became the third ASU player with consecutive 3,000-yard passing seasons, finishing his career with 8,624 passing yards (fifth in school history), 704 completions and 52 TD passes (sixth in ASU history). First-team All-Pac-12 WR N’Keal Harry had 1,088 receiving yards and a career-high 10 TDs last season.

In 2017, Bennett worked extensively with the Sun Devils offensive line and tight ends that paved the way for RB Demario Richard, who gained 1,047 yards and scored 12 TDs on 198 carries (5.2-yard average). While at ASU, Bennett earned his Master’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2017.

Bennett went to Arizona State after serving as an offensive graduate assistant at Rice University for two seasons (2014-15). Prior to Rice, he coached football, basketball, and track at Scoggins Middle School in Frisco, TX. Bennett received a bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Texas Tech in 2010.

He was a two-year letterman at SMU as a long snapper, earning All-Conference USA Freshman honors in 2006. Bennett graduated from Highland Park (Dallas, TX) High School where he was a starter on the Scots’ 15-0 state championship squad in 2005. He served as the team’s long snapper and played on the offensive line, blocking for future Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Bennett and his wife, Stephanie, have a daughter, Scottie.
