The LSU football staff continues making moves on offense after adding preferred walk-on quarterback Knox Dyson on National Signing Day.

Dyson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pounder out of Oklahoma, revealed his decision on Wednesday after Joe Sloan and Co. extended a preferred walk-on opportunity in Baton Rouge.

During his senior campaign, the signal-caller tossed for over 3,000 yards and 33 touchdowns on his way to being named the 6A1 MVP (2x) and being listed the First Team All-District quarterback.

Now, he'll join a talented room headlined by returnee Garrett Nussmeier who will take control of QB1 duties for the Bayou Bengals in 2024.

Dyson is the third quarterback the Tigers have added this offseason after signing 3-star Colin Hurley in the 2024 cycle while also bringing in Vanderbilt transfer AJ Swann.

The trio of newcomers will join both Nussmeier and redshirt freshman Rickie Collins in the quarterback room this upcoming season.

The story on the DT search.

Turning to football, coach Brian Kelly addressed LSU’s D-line recruitment yesterday in an interview with WAFB in Baton Rouge, which will be posted in its entirety later today on their YouTube Channel. In an excerpt shared by Jacques Doucet, Kelly shared some interesting comments about NIL and the transfer portal. Here’s what he said:

“Well, I think I made it pretty clear that we were in the market, in recruiting, in the transfer portal, looking for defensive linemen. It hasn’t fared very well, quite frankly, because we’re selling something a little bit differently. That is, we want to recruit, we want to engage, and build relationships. We want to develop, retain and have success. We’re not in the market of buying players. Unfortunately, right now, that’s what some guys are looking for. They want to be bought. And look, I understand NIL is part of this. And we have an incredible collective. We have very, very generous opportunities around the greater Baton Rouge area for NIL opportunities. They are here. But we’re not going to go out and buy players… We will develop you and get you ready for the next step, as we did with Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas. We developed three defensive linemen that all got drafted this year, and we’ll do that again. But if you’re just looking to get paid, you’re looking at the wrong place. If you like all the things we do here in developing our players, bringing you into a championship program, playing in front of the best fanbase in America, playing for championships and having an opportunity for NIL, you should be a Tiger. But if you just want to get paid, this is not the place for you.”

OT Weston Davis – LSU signee

On300 Ranking: No. 24
Next Highest Ranking: No. 100 (Rivals)
Industry Comparison
Scouting Take: Weston Davis has one of the higher upsides among the offensive tackles in this class. He’s a guy who is pretty new to football having played for only three year, but he’s an obvious top talent. He has elite length as a guy who is 6’5 and 285 pounds with 35-inch plus arms. His basketball background and athleticism on the court really stand out as well. It’s easy to tell how explosive of an athlete he is on the basketball floor, but he’s going to need continued development from a technical standpoint with his lack of experience. For someone who has only played the game for a short time relatively, his growth in physicality and understanding the game is really encouraging. – Charles Power, Director of Recruiting.
