Wow, what is going on at USCw?  It seems like you would at least wait until the new OC was named.

Jan 24, 2019 - USC Football has endured a lot during the last few weeks, now things just got even worse for them by

losing their highest rated recruit in Bru McCoy. The five star athlete entered his name into the transfer portal just days after enrolling into USC per ESPN’s Tom VanHarren. All signs are pointing to McCoy transferring to Texas, which was the other school in his top two before the All-American game.

McCoy committed to USC during the All-American game back on January 5, making him the highest rated player in the Trojans 2019 recruiting class. It was announced that the Mater Dei product signed his letter of intent and would be enrolling early at USC. News of McCoy wanting to transfer started up on Wednesday and was brought to light by Adam Maya of Trojansports.com. McCoy will have to sit out a year due to him already starting classes at USC just two weeks ago. McCoy could explore being granted a waiver to play right away, however that could be a longshot as USC did not lose their head coach and the waiver doesn’t work for coordinators or assistant coaches departing.

There could be multiple reasons for why this is taking place. Kliff Kingsbury was the offensive coordinator at the time McCoy made his decision, however just a few days later Kingsbury left USC to take the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.

That was quick.  5* WR was at USC for 2 weeks, transfer to UT-Austin after Kingsberry left USC, now he's got to sit out a year.  I don't get it, he should have at least waited to find out who the new OC is...

Jan 25, 2019 - Bru McCoy's life as a

USC Trojan moved pretty fast. If fans didn't stop to look around at the offseason roster, they might have missed it. McCoy will instead be enrolling at Texas this weekend, according to a report from Horns247.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound five-star prospect in the class of 2019 signed with the Trojans during the early signing period, and enrolled in school in January. McCoy entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal just weeks after stepping foot on campus.

I like some of the real characters of the NFL (not all of them), and John Riggins is one that I like.  John had an older brother that had a ability and a better work ethic as a youth than John, and John's Dad always held the older brother up as John could not do better.  I think John wanted to show his Dad that he was wrong.  This is a great 20 minute interview with a real character, and every minute has interesting points, if you can make it through.  6' 2" and 230, a high school sprint champ.  Sounds like Fournette (no guarantee Leonard makes it to the hall of fame though).  Only back to gain more yards in his 30's than in his 20's!  It all depended on the coach.

Interesting interview with Favre, about 40 minutes but the first 20 minutes are all you need to see.  His competitive spirit shines through.  He couldn't say it while he was playing because everyone would be after him.  Now he can open up.  He steps into his throws real well.

Just something else I've been thinking about.

My top five running backs

Jim Brown, 6’ 2” 230, Jim had it all, power, speed, balance, and he could cut.  I’ve not seen anyone else put it all together the way Jim did.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD_sqMKZRmQ

OJ Simpson, 6’ 1” 210, OJ was primarily a speed back and every run was potentially a home run, like nobody I have seen from the running back position.  He has enough power to break some tackles, and enough elusiveness to avoid being caught.  Set the single season rushing record of 2003 yards in a 14 game season, on a team without a passing attack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1cu5ykSda0&t=4s

Earl Campbell, 5’11”, 230, the quintessential power back, with enough speed to house it.  He has a little wiggle.  Unfortunately, he did not know how to hold the ball, as his highlight video could be a teaching film on how NOT to do it (but he did not fumble the ball).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTY3-D4BDiY

Eric Dickerson, 6’ 3” 220, a speed back with good size so he could break some tackles, could cut, think a tall OJ Simpson.  Best glider I ever saw if he got through the hole clean, it was over.  He never got caught from behind.  Set the single season rushing record his second year in the league breaking Simpson’s record, 2105 yards in a 16 game season.

Adrian Peterson, 6’ 1” 220.  Not the fastest, not the most powerful, not the shiftiest, but perhaps the best blend of all three ever.

Honorable mention (on the list if they had played longer)

Gale Sayers, maybe the best speed back ever.  He had shiftiness also, great vision.  Youngest player inducted into the hall of fame at 34, because his career was ended early do to a knee injury.  But, when his light shown, it was white hot!  Shortest career to make the top 100 players in the NFL of all time, and that was at #22, think about that!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIpgdo9Ab38

Bo Jackson, was he a power back or a speed back?  He was both, the only runner to rival Jim Brown in putting it all together.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K7f1n2FRw8

Notables not on the list

Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Ledanian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith

These are great runners, but I would not pick any of them before my first five if I was starting a team.  Nobody was a speed back, no notable power back.  They all had great vision and hit holes well, they had good speed and cutting, but nothing great.  They were like swiss army knives, they did a multitude of things well, but nothing outstanding.  Sanders was the best cutter I ever saw and even shortish runs could be fun to watch, but that apparently does not win games like an outstanding power or speed back.  Payton amassed career records due to his durability, he almost never got hurt and played a LONG time.

This is one thing I recall about Riggins. He was a bit nervous for the event and had a few too many cocktails before it to "relax". He relaxed alright!!!! :crownpour::martinismiley:

While many people may be tongue-tied when they meet a Supreme Court justice, not so Washington Redskins fullback John Riggins. “Come on Sandy baby, loosen up. You’re too tight,” he admonished Sandra Day O’Connor.

The 240-pound football player also slept on the floor for an hour as Vice President George Bush and other dignitaries spoke to the crowd of 1,300 at the Washington Press Club’s annual salute to Congress banquet Wednesday night.

Riggins was later helped from the room by two editors of People magazine who had been seated at his table.

He had his bell rung in the game today - he is still in the locker room.  The initially called targeting but reversed it.

ETA:  UPDATE is that it was his thumb.  Its wrapped in ice and he is done for the day.

Crazy afternoon for me.  Some fiber network went out and all the hospitals in the area lost their internet and access to the electronic medical record in the process.  Hopefully its up now and I can go in and finish my charts sometimes this weekend.  At first, I couldn't even figure out who my patients were to see this afternoon.  LOL

Dec. 16, 2019

Texas A&M running back Jashaun Corbin has reportedly entered the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz with AL.com.

Corbin, a sophomore from Melbourne, Florida, was the Aggies starting running back before suffering a hamstring injury vs. Clemson in week 2.
He is the third running back to leave the team this season, joining Jacob Kibodi who entered the transfer portal earlier this month and Deneric Prince who left the team in September.

What's going on with running backs at aTm?
