LSU has gone into the Dallas-Fort Worth area and snagged a commitment on the defensive line.

Mansfield (Texas) Timberview three-star defensive tackle Dilan Battle announced his pledge to the Tigers on Monday afternoon.

Battle, 6-foot-5, 315 pounds talked with Rivals about his decision to commit.

He chose the Tigers over offers from Texas A&M, Texas, USC, Arkansas, and plenty more from his 22 total offers.

Battle has long been connected to the Tigers and he has made his interest and love for the school public before. As he announces his commitment to the program, he says opportunities and relationships led the way.

"It's really about just going there to compete and to play early, that was one of the main things. And coach Bo (Davis) for sure, our relationship, we've got a good bond, so that played a major part of me committing too. And just like the prestige of the college. It's just a football school, so I want to go there and get drafted, so that's what I'm gonna do."

Battle elected to make the decision now to get it out the way before his senior season. The past few months though were not too difficult for Battle though as he has had his mind made up for quite a while.

"It was after after all my other official visits," Battle says of when he know he was choosing LSU. "I knew that this is where I was going to call home at the end of the day. I already knew and I had already committed, but I just now made it public."

LSU adds third DL to 2025 class with Dilan Battle commitment

LSU's burning up in fall camp on the field but the purple and gold haven't slowed down on the recruiting trail either. On Monday the Tigers picked up a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Dilan Battle.

At 6-foot-2, 315 pounds, Battle is currently the No. 61 defensive lineman in the country and now gives LSU a trio of defensive tackle prospects for Bo Davis to work with in the class. Battle joins a group that includes Brandon Brown out of Florida and fellow Texas interior lineman Zion Williams. Battle has long been an LSU target but specifically since Davis arrived in Baton Rouge.

Battle made an official visit to Baton Rouge back in late May to kick off the summer and the visit made quite an impression, particularly getting to interact with Davis and visiting with some of the freshmen like Gabriel Reliford, who hosted Battle on the visit.

"Coach Bo told me I am a great player that he really wants to come here, and I have a great chance to come in and play right away," Battle told Geaux247 at the time. "He told me what I need to work on and showed me a player I compared with in the NFL that he had previously at Texas."

Battle was compared to former Texas defensive tackle Keondre Coburnwho was most recently a sixth round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs. Getting him in the building as a tall, physical interior lineman with the chance to learn under one of the best technique coaches in all of college football is obviously something that LSU prioritizes. A common trait with all of these interior linemen the Tigers have committed in this class are the physical traits. While maybe not the most advanced on the field, that's why Brian Kelly hired a coach like Davis, to mold these players into the best versions their physical traits allow them to be.
Clearly there's opportunity for any one of these young defensive tackles to come in and compete right away for playing time. This is still a position room that's in development and for Davis to get three on board to add to what the Tigers have in young pieces like Dominick McKinley, Ahmad Breaux, Shone Washington and De'Myrion Johnson gives the program a lot of bites at the apple to find contributors at the position.

Where the real progress could start to show is in the 2026 class when guys like Jahkeem Stewart, Lamar Brown, Dylan Berymon and Darryus McKinley are all gearing up for their recruiting year. Current four-star commit Richard Anderson in the 2026 class is a fantastic start there but more work will be required to get this interior defensive line in a better spot.

The Rivals article has Battle listed as 6' 5" and #315, 247 has him listed at the same weight but 6' 2". Between these articles and what appears on the roster, you never really know what size these players actually are.

Well, I'm 6'3" on a good day. On other days...not so much.

Columbia (S.C.) Hammond School tight end Mike Tyler has committed to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers, he announced on Saturday via social media.

The South Carolina native made his way to Baton Rouge a pair of times this summer with Kelly and Co. ramping up their push for the versatile weapon after a June visit.

After camping with the Tigers over the summer, the program was impressed with the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder, ultimately sending him an invite to make his way to town for the Bayou Splash recruting event at the end of July.

He quickly became a player to keep tabs on with the LSU staff viewing the three-star prospect as a gem in the 2025 cycle.

Down the stretch, it was an LSU vs. Duke battle with the Tigers ultimately coming out on top for the underrated tight end.

After a junior campaign that put him on the map, Tyler saw programs on the East coast extend scholarships his way.

He reeled in 33 receptions for 543 yards and seven touchdowns; showcasing his versatility as both a receiving and blocking tight end.

Tyler currently holds offers from over 20 programs including LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Wake Forest, among others.

LSU ramped up its push for the Columbia, South Carolina native despite already holding a commitment from the No. 1 tight end in Louisiana, JD LaFleur. The goal is to have a two-tight end class in 2025 with Tyler now rounding out the haul alongside LaFleur.

Now, all attention shifts to the Early Signing Period in December where LSU's monster 2025 Recruiting Class looks to put pen to paper.

LSU currently holds the No. 3 overall 2025 Recruiting Class headlined by Bryce Underwood (No. 1 QB), Harlem Berry (No. 1 RB) and DJ Pickett (No. 1 CB).

LSU flips 4-star CB recruit Kade Phillips from Texas

Author Photo

LSU Tiger Stadium

Chalk one up in the L column for Texas' football recruiting class of 2025.

Just more than a month after netting a major commitment from 4-star defensive back prospect Kade Phillips, the Longhorns lost the Hightower (Missouri City, Texas) star to new SEC rival LSU. Phillips' latest decision was revealed via the Twitter account for On3 Sports' Hayes Fawcett, and came after days of rumors that Phillips had been considering the switch.

Phillips was one of the top prospects in Texas' Class of 2025, and his departure is a definite blow to the school's overall class strength. While there is still plenty of time for the Longhorns to net a replacement, they were counting on Phillips to be a key part of their defensive back group in the incoming class.

Given the timing, and the fact that Phillips has already committed to Texas once, it would seem foolish to completely write the Longhorns off from working Phillips back into their group before Early Signing Day in December.

The LSU defensive line room is getting built back in a huge way as class of 2025 tackle Walter Mathis‍ Jr. has committed to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-3, 285 pound linemen chose LSU over offers from Auburn, Clemson, Miami and many others.

Mathis finished his junior year with a total of 50 tackles with 22 of those being for a loss, plus six sacks.

LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis is recruiting Mathis for the Tigers.

The Tigers 2025 recruiting class now has 26 commitments.  Mathis is a consensus three-star prospect on the verge of a four.  He’s one of four defensive tackles currently committed joining Dilan Battle‍ of Mansfield, TX, Brandon Brown‍ of Melbourne, FL and Zion Williams‍ of Lufkin, Texas.

Belleville (Mich.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Bryce Underwood now stands alone at the top of Michigan’s high school record books.

With a pair of touchdown passes early int he game against Churchill (Mich.), Underwood broke the Michigan high school football record for career touchdown passes with his 125th score through the air. Underwood added two more touchdowns before halftime, as well as a rushing touchdown. Belleville went on to win 65-0.

LSU commit Bryce Underwood 34-yard TD strikepic.twitter.com/2FJfYs6Oii— solvingfootball (@solvingfootball)September 13, 2024

Prior to Underwood, Stockbridge’s Mason Gee-Montgomery held the record with 124 passing touchdowns in 2016.

Michigan high school state record for total career touchdowns is 151 by Kevin Grady Jr. of East Grand Rapids, who went on to play tailback and fullback for at Michigan.

For On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power, the ability to not just pass at an elite level, but now showcase the running element to his high school film as a senior helps continue to separate the future LSU quarterback from the rest of his peers in the 2025 cycle.

Keep an eye on these Sunshine State Commitments as players LSU could flip

By Nicholas Rome | 8:00 AM CDT

Florida State v Florida

Florida State v Florida / James Gilbert/GettyImages

When the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles each dropped their season openers teams across the country started to perk up as it presented a chance to flip some of their highly ranked commitments. Now that the Seminoles are 0-3 and the Gators are 1-2, teams will have every chance to flip these recruits.

The Gators are the most susceptible despite having the better record as everyone around the country believes that Billy Napier's next loss could be his last at Florida. The Gators have had little success under Napier and this season hasn't changed much.

The Seminoles at 0-3 have been an utter disaster as Mike Norvell is quickly realizing that rebuilding via the transfer portal isn't the best way to build a roster. Norvell's roster would be much better if he recruited better as the classes making up his team were ranked 12th, 22nd, 23rd, and 21st. Norvell has been susceptible to Signing Day flips losing top recruits like Travis Hunter and KJ Bolden on National Signing Day.

For the LSU Football program, some of the Tigers top recruiting targets landed at these schools over LSU despite having the Tigers in their finalists.

CJ Wiley is a wide receiver the LSU Football team pushed hard for this recruiting cycle. Wiley is a legacy recruit as the son of Chuck Wiley a two-time All-SEC defensive end for LSU in the 1990's. It came as a shock that Wiley chose Florida State as nearly everyone had him crystal balled to Georgia. Steve Wiltfong of On3 has stated that LSU is still in communication and the Tigers could remain in the picture as they try to land another receiver in this class.

On3 ranks Wiley as the 79th-best player in the class and the 13th-ranked wide receiver in the class.

The player LSU tried to flip the most this spring was Florida State offensive line commit Solomon Thomas. Thomas is the Nation's top recruit at the interior offensive line and a five-star recruit according to every service except for On3. The Tigers got Thomas onto campus twice this spring and it seemed like LSU was going to pull off the flip but, they never did. Now as the Seminoles are 0-3, LSU should pick up its push for Solomon Thomas and they should try to get him to campus for one of these loaded recruiting weekends.

The Gators don't have a ton of commitments who LSU was heavily recruited but, a name to watch will be Naeshaun Montgomery. The four-star receiver visited a ton last season and was back on campus this summer for his official visit. It'll be tough to lure him out of Florida especially as Miami can come calling but, LSU was in his finalists when he committed.

Finishing off this loaded class with a bang

As things currently stand, the LSU Football team holds the Nation's third ranked recruiting class trailing only Alabama and Ohio State. The Tigers are in striking distance of landing the Nation's top recruiting class but, it'll take a massive commitment or two. Landing Solomon Thomas would give LSU a fourth five-star recruit, the most in the country and it would also help LSU in potentially surpassing the two teams ahead of them. Getting a receiver like Montgomery or Wiley would be massive for this recruiting class and in replacing some of the veteran receivers LSU may lose to the draft.

Four-star CB Jacob Bradford commits to LSU
circle avatar
Sam Spiegelman  •  Rivals.com
National Recruiting Analyst
orqj6icbf3t7bzp0yik7

Jacob Bradford has had a change of heart.

Months after committing to Houston, an offer and multiple visits to LSU altered Bradford's recruitment. The Rivals four-star cornerback from Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic High declared for the hometown Tigers on Saturday after another visit inside Tiger Stadium for the Ole Miss game.

Since DB coach Corey Raymond extended an offer to the 6-foot, 190-pound speedster in July, the Tigers have continued to assert themselves in Bradford's recruitment.

Bradford has been on campus at LSU on several occasions over the course of his recruitment.

Since collecting an offer, he's made three consecutive visits to LSU, including an official visit and returned for this weekend's game vs. the Rebels.

Bradford is also set to be back in town for the Alabama game on November 9 along with his brother.

The Tigers are cleaning up with blue-chippers inside The Boot for this 2025 cycle.

With the addition of Bradford, the No. 41-ranked CB in the country, LSU holds commitments from 11 of the state's top 20 prospects.

This Louisiana-focused class sits at No. 2 in the Rivals Team Rankings behind only Ohio State.

LSU Football extends a scholarship offer to one of the Nation's top offensive tackles

By Nicholas Rome | 7:00 AM CDT

The LSU Football team is going to start to push even harder for recruits in the 2026 recruiting class as the season winds down. This is as the 2025 recruiting cycle is starting to slow down while LSU now has another season worth of film to judge these recruits on. LSU has started to build in this class landing four in-state recruits but, LSU hasn't made the splash out of state.

The Tigers have extended an offer to a recruit that LSU would desperately want of land as they offered offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho a scholarship.

Iheanacho is a unanimous top ten recruit according to every recruiting services as three of the four list him a top five recruit. It will be a tough recruitment for LSU as most of the Northeast schools will have home turf advantage with the Maryland native.

The good news for LSU that if you wanted anyone handling an out of state recruitment like this its Brad Davis. Davis has gone out of state to land top recruits like he has in the 2025 cycle luring Carius Curne the top recruit out of Arkansas.

After this spring, Brad Davis will also have the chance to pitch recruits on the fact that he just developed two offensive tackles into first round picks as Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr are both projected first round picks.

We'll have to wait and see if LSU is able to get Iheanacho onto campus for an unofficial visit this season as the atmosphere at Tiger Stadium weighs heavily on LSU's recruiting targets.
